1.) These are xmods.
2.) They are not hobby grade, they are
3.) Cheap plastic toys.
4.) Try something hobby grade before you spend more money trying to fix it. It is very unlikely you'll go back.
5.) I went back becuase I need a crawler for the summer, but Kyosho MR-02's would make much better crawlers.

Yeap this is kind of how I feel! I've had 4 cars burn FETs on me in the last few weeks! I reckon i've put about a grand into cars / kits / parts / batteries you name it and I am kind of getting a little annoyed with the fact my xmods keep breaking!

I've decided to give it one more go! I am going to send a bunch of them to Atomic Mods to have their FETs replaced and stacked, plus a few other little upgrades and then I think that will be the last big amount of money I put into them!

If they continue to break I am going to move back to either Nitro cars or larger scale pro electric-powered cars. Just need something to keep me busy until next year when I will be buying a full size Evo VIII MR edition and can tune that instead!

Well, the only reason I'm still in it, is because I need something to do in the winter.

Also, ehh, I can't think of an also.

Hobby grade FTW.

Later,

sorry to hear about your luck man but sweed is right.
these arent high dollar R/C's. these are hardly low dollar R/C's.
if your looking for a car that doesnt require upkeep then you need to come back from fantasy island.
hobbygrade or not, EVERY car will break something sooner or later and well, bottom line....you get what you pay for.

personally, i like xmods because i can rip them apart and cut whatever the hell i want without feeling bad about it.
i just couldnt see doing some of the stuff i've done to Xmods on a $100.00+ chassis.
i do this for a hobby regardless of wether or not it's "hobby grade" so i have a few different feelings about this and to tell the truth i spend about 200% more time modding then i do driving them.
i do throw my xmods through paces though and i have broke a good bit, but if you dont break anything then you wont know what needs to be in alloy

hope you reconscider and give 1/28 a chance.

cheers,
bondo

im in this hobby because when im bored in my room, I turn to xmods for entertainment. I agree with bondo, i spend a lot of time taking mine apart and playing with it that way. I do drive it, but i just enjoy seeing how it works and making it work better. Also if you want to do modifications (projects) to them, you dont feel bad because they are not too expensive like other high end hobby grade cars

You wanna bet?

They would actaully make better crawlers than Xtrucks and Overlands. Just the design...

Outlander is RWD, so crawling just sucks, but the SSMT isn't too bad... Solid Axels..

Geez, I don't know what you guys do to your Xmods. I have had 4 and I still own 3. The one I broke was my own ****ed fault for trying to solder beyond my abilities. Besides that, the rest run just fine.

Haw, I torture my Xmods. I don't have one working right now, and I've fried about 5-6 boards...

Oh well, my Mamba I can't fry and my tour car, well, I won't fry it...

Anywho, as for the debate on what makes the best crawler, I'm thinking gen1 with a 4 link setup. (sorta like that green "hustler" in RCCA)
