![]() This is my 8 cell xmod. It goes about 20-22 mph using the Tamiya speed checker. It's that low because I used the stock motor S1; which is the only motor I have. Lithium ups were too expensive for me.
The extra battery packs were glued to the original battery clips. The only upgrades it has are awd, drift tires, and metal bearings. And all three of those ups costed me about $20. The car itself was $30 plus the $24 for the radioshack rechargeable batteries. I just have to be careful of how long I run the thing. I'm looking around for wider tires and rims too. ![]() To his.... his own but I think that looks worthless!! All that weight would loose any speed you gained from voltage! If I understand correctly you only have a stage one motor? Why not spend the money you did on bats and holders and get stage 2 motors?

![]() y would you want stage 2s i regret getting them so i got the atomic standard motor. 40k rpm at 6v, so a 6 cell would make it go even faster and with less weight..and you can use your body...i think the extra batterys cost more or less the same as the motor

![]() 8.4v is pushing it to extremes that you dont want to get into.
your board will be toast at 9v. 7.4 is what you want to shoot for. if your not using li-ion, 6-7 1000mah rechargeables should be plenty regardless of the motor you use. you have three variables to conscider when chosing a setup. esc, power, motor. all of these need to be in compliance. then you have to worry about gear ratio and the kind of racing you plan on.
