Default Slammed, Euro-Style Evo VIII UPDATE 2/25 Rack done and painted!

Well, here is my latest project, I decided to go in a completely different direction than most people do with Xmods, and do a euro/ HellaFlush theme.

First step- Stance, weird-*** colored wheels, and a bit of rust.

Now, onto the second step. A roof rack with detachable basket. It's progressing quite quickly, and I hope to have the fog lights mounted and the whole thing painted by Monday. It's made from ".032 Styrene sheet and 1.5mm half-round.

Starting the basket...

Mounts and crossbars on the roof...

And the two mated up for a test fit...

So, what do you think? I know it's a controversial style, but I like it a lot

Its a good start.. The rack looks like it sits too high off of the roof..

Its definitely interesting. The rusted front quarter panel adds a realistic look. As for the wheel color, I think you may have left the cap off that paint thinner too long. Make sure you are well ventilated next time Kidding of course. But then I am the guy that makes the death machines, so take my advice as a grain of salt.

I like!

You may want to scale the roof basket down a bit? then again, once it's all done it may look better.

Aside from that, colors are great!

I like the stance, the roof rack is also a good idea, but imo if the roof rack is a little smaller and sit lower, then it'll look more scale. Welcome to the forum btw.

It may be the angle of the pics, as it looks pretty low to me. I could also be losing my mind Thanks, man!

I plan on trying to find some luggage, maybe a gas can or two. It WILL carry parts, and a spare though.

I will get on that resizing, sorry that I missed that in the rules, I'm sure it's blatantly stated somewhere hahahah.

Hahahahahaha, thanks man! The quarter panel was weathered using a layering of light tan, orange, and rust; and a texturing with a piece of foam to finish.

Thanks a lot, man! Like I said to Trans_Am_Lover, I'll take a second look at the scaling, and I may bring it down a bit.

Very nice. Cant wait to see how it looks with the fog lamps on. What color you planning on painting the rack? Satin black would look cool. Just my opinion of course.

I'm in the air between satin black and rust. I'm leaning towards satin black.

Thanks!

WOW! Thanks a lot, man! Trust, the stance is not done, and the car will be getting a few more mods to finish it off.

UPDATE, because of all the excitement for this build. Rack is done except for the fog lights.

Not sure why, but it looks WAYYY out of scale in this pic, and the stance looks like crap, too. I promise, the rack is MUCH smaller than it appears. I think it may be the low angle of the picture. Actually, just like in a 1:1, it's about as tall as the width of a tire.

Once again, thanks for all the compliments!

I have to say, this is a unique Evo to say the least! The rack, green wheels, and rusted fender come together to create a nice package! I will agree with those that suggest you paint the rack black! Welcome to the site!

Definitely a very creative project. Can you take some more pics, like a side shot and maybe a front end shot? I'm digging the roof rack, but I think the issue is that it appears in a scale setting, to be sitting approximately 5-6 scale inches above the roof, which appears to be a little high...and make it look larger than it really is. I think if you can get a little sleeker look with it, you will really pull this off! Way to do something different!

roof rack looks a tad big.
i'd say that stance is almost there. you're low enough, but you're not flush yet. stance doesn't = low. stance = flush fitment with just enough fender gap to drive

Oh, I know what stance is My 1:1 is almost stanced out, as all I need to do is get it lower. I'm working on the body mounts, so all I can get right now is the ride height. Once the height is set, and I have the enders where I want, the wheels will be spaced out. I'm not going for poke, I'm going for flush, BTW.

And here is the latest update. DISCLAIMER: The basket is only sitting on the rack for pics. I'm in the middle of dialing in the mounts, so it's just there to see what it looks like in general, and for pics. The basket is square, I just can't get it to sit level on the rack, since the front crossbar is out of square. But, I did get the basket sized down considerably, and it looks much better. Also, the fog lights are mounted.

And front/side shots. Ask, and ye shall receive...
