UPDATES

UPDATE#1

in the beginnin'

and that's where it sits as of today.
i've still got a few things to do like mod the rear bumper to get rid of the camaro lights(thanks zippo for the hookups) and some minor shaping/smoothing.
i havn't made up my mind completely about the paint and details yet but it's deffinately going to be "mile deep black" with a few firebird traits here and there.
i'm thinking possibly blacking out the entire car except for a few key points and decals.....IDK though.
any ideas?

cheers,
Smoky in the Sally Field

UPDATE#2
i finally got around to putting down another coat of primer for filling/sanding.
thought i'd post a pic so you can see it in all black.
these will probably be the last pics you'll see until the new goodies show up to finish off the bodywork and additions.

cheers,
Camarjoe

UPDATE#3
well,good news and bad news.
the good news is my parts are all here.
the bad news is i can't use the ones i bought a whole kit for.
i was going to use the headlights and wheels from this kit but come to find out, their plated in gold and bigger then what i already have.
looks like i'll be building another T/A model...

it would have been helpful if they would have had a picture of the front of the box in the ad.......

zippo hooked me up with some parts that i CAN use though......thanks bud:rockon2:

with a bit of cutting and sanding.

here's a couple shots to give perspective of the outcome.
i still have a good bit of putty work ahead of me so the rear bumpers going to look a bit different then now.
in the end it should be close to this.

but here's where it's at now.

gotta love the hood tach.
those really should have made a comback.
cheers until the putty dries.

UPDATE#4

i kicked the lights out at an angle to help with the transition and knocked the deck lid back some.
i also relocated and sank the gas lid.

since these pics i've knocked the decklid back even farther and added a third brakelight under it.

what are your thoughts on black base and this color blue?

thanks again guys

UPDATE#5
the work on this one has been pretty slow since i have a bunch of paint projects going and eating up space but i did manage to get another coat of putty on and sanded on the rear bumper.
i threw some more black on to help ya'll see the shape of it.
it doesn't show it very well in the pics but there's a 45* step between the two 90*'s so it's not just a hard 90* angle.
i've still got some tidy'ing up to do but this is the basic shape.

i've also changed up the hood.
the higher cowl still looked more camaro-ish so i chopped up an old model car seatback and made a more firebird like scoop for it but that will have to wait until the next update.

cheers,

UPDATE#6
so i'm going through Ebay the other day looking for scale misc. for future projects and what do i see?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWNX:IT
SONOFAB!TCH!!

anyways, work has been real slow on this one due to the past buildoff and arranging the sale for surgeon..........and the fact that one of my beagle pups got ahold of the rear bumper.......:gun5:
it WAS looking pretty good for awhile.
i had the updates all ready to go and she said "%^$# THAT!"...nog..nog..nog...

so here's where it sits.
i got the "mica blue" on and the "mile deep black" and sanded/primed the bumper.
the hood is blue simply because i had a bit of the blue left and said screw it....it's not like i'm losing detail there...

here's some of the damage.
it isnt too bad, luckily i got it away from here before she could tear it up too bad. since this pic i've puttied the corners back in.

once i get the bumper squared away(again..), this project should be finished shortly after.

cheers,
UPDATE#7

if it would have been the whole car then iwould have junked it.....or stomped it....then junked it..

from where it's at now,i can go ahead and finish out the rest of it and worry about the bumper when it gets here.

here's the damage.

here's todays forward progress.
the kit that the headlights came from had lenses at one point but hell if i know where they are so with the help of my straight rule and some upgrade kit plastic,i made new ones.

aluminum tubing for the headlights(....oooh, fancy...)
i'm waiting for the superglue to dry and then i can tidy it up and repaint it.

thanks again guys,

UPDATE#8

i got the decals on yesterday.
it's a bit dirty and some spots were sanded down but it will be fixed shortly.

and today i got the PE parts painted and some of them laid in.
this bird marks the return of the 421(sidebadge) :rockon2:

cheers,

UPDATE#9
i finally started round #3 on the rear bumper and the end of this car is in sight.:dh)

more to come soon
UPDATE#10
thanks guys, it feels good to put in some work again.
now i'm starting to wish i had more time to finish this one up.

got it all smooth and ready for paint.

i'm hoping to get it painted by the end of the day then all that's left is to wetsand and reclear the rest of the shell, get the chassis/wheels squared away and work the fiber optics for the lights.

cheers,

UPDATE#11
well, i was hoping to get the bumper fully painted but the best i could do was a solid basecoat.
one thing that's been bothering me from the start was the lack of spoiler.
i think i fingerred it out...

this was the original plan.

but, in a rare move on my part i sided with the masses and realised that it does'nt fit as nicely as i previously thought so i ditched it and havn't thought about it until now.
what i wanted was something similar to this.

though it's on a camaro, that spoiler is from a '92 formula and what i wanted for this was that same shape but i wanted it to follow the(newly created) curve of the 2010.
i found the shape i was looking for in the form of a GT-r spoiler...

i'm suprised at how well this spoiler fits the shape of the car.
it has the F-body feel to it with the hard lines of a late model.
BTW,it's not going to sit that high....by no means.
those pics were just a rough fitting,it should be sitting flush soon enough.

tune in tomorrow, same stupid time, same stupid channel...
