Flat 4 Racing: How big are those pieces from Sports Authority? I'd love to see some pics....
Here ya go. I placed an antenna and magazine next to the part for comparison. I'd guess that they are 1ft X 1ft.

The price a few years ago was $14.99 for 12 pieces like what's in the photo, plus like 10 "potential barriers," which are about 1ft X 1in.

Hey thanks for the info and the pic, F4R

Just wanted to see and compare prices, to see what's the best deal for the most driving surface, hehe.

With the number of locks, I'd hope the 1 inch barriers can take a head-on collision without giving way....

Well, the barriers really aren't barriers. They're more like "end caps." I dunno how hard of a hit they can take, or whether a car will flip over them.

Default Try harbor Freight

I bought my mats from Harbor Freight. They were $11.99 for a 4 pack of 2'x2' mats with 2 edges per mat. I ended up buying three sets but am probably going to buy some more althought my wife won't be too happy with the way my sons and I have taken over the family room!

There was a grand opening of a new Harbor Freight about an hour or so from me and they had advertised those same mats for $7.99/ 4 pack but only at the new store! Boo!!

Man, that's what I want. I want some larger mats! Less seams means that the cars will run better without hopping all over the place!

I picked up some of these mats and tried using the end caps as walls. I then tried some head on collision into the "wall". Let's just say, you're right, they aren't "barriers", hehe.

The mats are pretty good material though. Way better grip than driving around on tile/hardwood floors....

Yeah, they're not too bad. They do the job. They aren't fancy, but they are significantly cheaper than the standard track.

That's not a bad idea. I never thought about that.
