Hey guys, I've been searching around the past couple of days looking for forums and parts, and I decided to join up here.

My Xmod is a black Nissan Skyline that I bought back around when they first came out.

I've had this for awhile but I'm new to this scene, namely because of a few problems I had with this. The cheap plastic lug nuts that hold the wheels on kept breaking to the point where I no longer have any to hold the wheel on. The last time it ran the front wheel lug broke and the wheel flew off, the car slammed into a wall and broke the mirror and snapped 2 of the other remaining lung nuts. I got frustrated and just ended up putting the thing away and forgot about it.

I was going through my things and recently found it and now I want to fix it. I've been hunting around for some solutions and I think I have found something and just need to get the parts. Hopefully I can fix this thing, and then I want to start modding it and I'm hoping you guys can help me with that. I was thinking about getting an Evo, but I'm in Canada and they are hard to come by.

Here are some pics:

The specs:

Car was ran maybe 8 times so its in great shape aside from the mirror. Its got the suspension upgrade which had run only once (when the wheel flew off) before I boxed it. It also has command logic lights and ground effects, it is otherwise stock.

Welcome, read the rules and understand them and there would be no trouble.

As for your problem, buy some alloy lugnuts. You can get them from various places. I can give you some links if you wish. The chassis is awfully clean, dont think I've seen one like that for ages now! And dont run with your mirrors on, they break off too easily.

I know I can get some that work from The Source from what I have read, and also from AtomicMods. If you have other links though it would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: Oh and if you know other options for bearings as well that would be great, I lost a couple and can't find them.

Well, heres a bunch. Different colors and all.

http://www.xmodsinternational.com/US...MINUMPARTS.htm

eBay also have a few. Just gotta look around.

As for your bearings, would you like stock plastic [cheaper, crappy] or metal bearings? [more expensive, better]. You would need to know how to keep the metal bearings in good shape. And theres lots of different kinds.

Open
Sealed
Ceramics

Atomicmods SHOULD tell you the differences and such if you look around.

If you dont mind me asking, where in Canada are you?

I would prefer to get better bearing than the plastic ones, so probably sealed bearings. I'll have to look up how to take care of them.

I'm in Ontario in the GTA

Do you know if Atomic still sells aluminum parts? Some are still listed but are out of stock I was just wondering if they are still available or not? I also was hoping to find the AWD upgrade for it but I know that's a stretch.

Alright, I'll get some links for you.

Atomicmods bearings page
http://www.atomicmods.com/Categories.../Bearings.aspx

Atomicmods open bearings [Radioshack]
http://www.atomicmods.com/Products/X...et__10011.aspx

Atomicmods sealed bearings [shielded]
http://www.atomicmods.com/Products/X...et__10012.aspx

Atomicmods ceramic bearings
http://www.atomicmods.com/Products/X...et__12822.aspx

Theres also some wide track bearings. They are wider then normal bearings, but they help with the wobble. I know you wanted sealed bearings, but I figured I might give you them all since you get more choice.

Welcome to XMS, it's good to have another member with us! Nice car you have there, besides that poor mirror...
Like said before, make sure to read the rules so you don't get in trouble.
Those plastic lug nuts are crappy. I need to get some metal ones as well. Don't you just hate those walls? They don't move for nothing...

Awesome, thank you very much. I'm reading up on the bearings right now. So should I get the shielding bearing set, wide track and wheel shims all together? I kinda understand what they do but the website doesn't entirely explain it.

To Donziikid:

There have been a few forums I have been on, and I use it in a lot of the games I play. Do you recall at all where you remember it from?

Edit: How do you clean the bearings?

Unfortunatly, no, I do not remember your name from anywhere specifically.. that's probably the problem..

To clean your bearings you're going to want to pick up a bottle of Trinity Royal Oil from either your LHS or an eRetailer like TowerHobbies.com. I use Trinity Royal Oil in all of my Xmods, MiniZs and larger scale RCs; it's a lubricant which will not rust out your bearings and can also be used as a motor lubricant (comm drops).

To clean my bearings I simply place them in a dixxy cup and place enough of the Royal Oil into the cup to cover the bearings completely; I then swish the solution around and the oil will remove most of the dirt and grime from the bearing. Dumb out the dirty solution and repeat the process until you do not see and more dirt and grime in the solution.

I pick up this or similar lubricants at my LHS for about $3.

Cheers,
Kyle.

welcome to xms! read the rules and have fun. thats a nice gen 1 you got there, and for bearing i'd get the wide track bearing just cuz they help with the wheel wobble, but then again there isnt much wheel wobble on gen 1's compared to the evo's. and to clean the bearing use some wd-40, thats what i do

The wide tracks are not needed, but I'd recommend them if you have the extra cash. The wheel shims, never tried them. I heard they will bind if you use them. Not sure, need to ask someone else. To clean the sheilded bearings are much harder then cleaning open or ceramics. Search around a little, I'm sure you can find what you need.

To clean your bearings...
I pretty much always use that dragon for my avatar, so if you have seen that before than it was more than likely me. Thanks for the advice on cleaning the bearings!

Thanks! Aside from the mirror I have tried to keep it in good shape, helps that I've barely used it so its basically mint.

I think I'll probably just go with normal bearings for the time being then upgrade to wide track later, we shall see.

Thanks! I have a lot planned for it provided I can find parts, and I'm debating on what kind of build I want to do. I do know that i want to race it and for it to be drivable.
