Default GPM Alum Locknuts w/ nylon insert

Okay, I just got a set of GPM locknuts, and it seems that they won't go down my axles the whole way, causing the wheels to be more wobbly than just the sloppy bushings.

I want to know if anyone is also using these locknuts or similar ones and are having the same problem/have a solution.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Are you sure your not hitting the plastic part of the locknut and just assuming its tight when its not? The plastic part is not threaded and your axle has to cut threads into it. Thats how it "locks"

I also have the same problem, for me anyways its because I don't have the right wrench to tighten them down so once I hit the plastic the wrench just spins on the nut, I'll be purchasing one soon.

I'll probably do the same as well.

I used a pair of pliers to turn the locknut while I used a needle-nose to hold the axle so it doesn't spin (rather than just holding the motor's pinion so that the whole drivetrain doesn't spin.

It just stopped 1mm from meeting the axle... I was already in the nylon section. I flipped it around to go nylon-first, just to initially make a thread in the nylon lock, and then flipped it over to try it again, still no luck...

I have been using the Kyosho lug nuts for some time and I hate them, expensive and I would hate to loose one. I recommend going to Radio Shack and buying their 2/58 nuts, you get 40 for $2.99 I think and they work great!!!

That's why the call em' lockin' lugnuts, lol. If you try getting a new lugnut wrench, it'll hold the nut better, allowing for deeper insertion(you know what I mean)

Later,

No radioshack has metal nuts that will fit Xmods.

Like blacksky said...use needle nose pliers...you could also use a small adjustable wrench.

They carry 2/56 or 2mm plain nuts at Radio Shack and most home improvement stores (Home Depot, Lowes, ACE, ect...). Just get some Loctite NON-PERMANENT Thread Locker while your there. Put a small drop on the threads and thread it on, and you're good to go.

For about $5, you have metal nuts that won't break, and you can put them on and take them off as many times as you want.... When the Loctite wears out, just wash them and re-apply. Works like a charm.
