Default Project Stanced

Wow, its been a long time since I have worked on a Xmod but got a great deal on a used Lancer Evo 9 on a Evo chassis. Plans are to make this a stanced drifter evo. Going to make a custom chassis and do a hobby-grade conversion (2.4ghz receiver, brushless and real steering servo. Don't forget the LiPo). Stay tuned for the progress.

Got the ride height set. Still waiting to get the wheels and body kit to see exactly what mods need to be done to get that perfect stance and be functional.

This is what I'm waiting for:
Radio Shack body set from atomicmods.com

Mini-z MA-010 Multi Offset Wheel set from amainhobbies.com

Got my stuff in and put the wide body kit on only to find out that that kit sit lower than the Charge Speed kit, so back to the Charge Speed. But all is not lost on the wide body kit. I'm going to use the intercooler and headlight lens (because they don't have the eyelids painted in). After playing around with that I got to wheel fitment and found that the narrow 1.5 offset for the front and wide 0 offset for the rear look perfect. Also got the bottom plate cut out for my chassis. Next on the list is camber mod and body work.

Well got a lil more work done last night. Figured out how to put some camber on the wheels. Just modify the top mounts front and back. After some cutting, filing, sanding, gluing and reinforcing this is what I got

Also got some body work done and so far here is what it looks like all together

The xmod wheels are slightly larger than the mini-z wheels so the tires don't quite fit but good enough to give me an idea of what it will look like.

The body is just about ready for paint and the top mounts will need shaping. It's coming along...

dumb question:
for the mini-z wheels, did you shave down the original xmod axle or retrofit mini-z axles?

I shaved down the original axles. Its pretty easy. I did it with a hand file. The metal is pretty soft.

Here's where I'm at with it so far:
Details painted
Custom exhaust tip
Drift tires mounted (narrow on wide perfect for the stance look IMO)
Just have to wet sand and add some decals and body is done and start on the chassis work...
