XMDrifter's rear-drive Track racer
well, i've started my next project, the rear drive track racer

Looks good so far, but I am just wondering why a kingpin suspension setup over the damper suspension?
doesn't it take off some suspension travel? Plus I don't think its for saving weight either as 4 dampener shocks doesn't weight that much.

because the dampers are pushing off the center of the slide axis, stressing the arm and possibly making it have tweak.
and also since the evo already has such low ground clearance i don't think much suspension travel is neccesary. besides, it's only 2 full turns of a soft coil (from the truck upgrade kit. it allows most of the suspension travel to remain since it is wider and will allow the knuckle closer to the tower thank you FF2.

Those springs WILL catch and bing.
I would go with a damper set-up, honestly. If it's about weight, skinny wires for the servo.

Sweed: i have been running that setup for awhile now with no problems. But if i turn the wheels manually i feel a little bit of resistance from the spring but with my hs-55 as a servo it turns fine, with no binding, yet. with the stock servo it might be a different story. WILL they catch? probably but it isn't very likely, i am using the 3 coils from the car(soft), they fit the knuckle perfectly, but xmdrifter's truck spring seems to hang off the knuckle. i am not disagreeing or agreeing with you because i haven't had any problems, yet. but it could happen

i've taken car of the binding issues that you ight be wondering about. all i did was bend the topmost end othe the coil and the bottommost end uf the coilso it will slide out of the way when the steering goes.
so not catch and bing extra power to the servo is why i used thicker servo wires. just in case those springs still have resistance i'm still missing a lot of parts so i won't be finishing this car in a while.
