Default Car Vibration Problems.

Wel today i decided to go out and drive with my bro(still on permit) and i was driving around all day and didnt really feel anything alittle vibration that has always been in the wheel thats it. But today as i drove around more, it started to get WAY worse, as i drove. At first i thought it was a tire, was going to check as soon as i got the chance, but then as i had to brake for a car in front of me i the vibration just went away. so i didnt pull over, i got back up to speed (around 30 mph when i first notice it, i was dong 40mph) when ever i got back hard on the throttle it would go away, if i normally accelerated it would be there and slowly get worse. Also as i drove and went to go around a corner it would go away, I havnt gotten a chance to look at it yet, im going to do that tomorrow. but any ideas would help out GREATLY

Thanks,
Jay.

balance your tires.

also in awd cars the tires all need to have even wear otherwize you will feel vibrations/noise

Wheel weight fell off? Camber screwed up on a wheel? Bent an axle? Maybe a bolt came loose from the engine, and its causing excessive vibration. That would explain the vibration when accelerating. Just a few ideas off the top of my head. Easy to find and spot.

Its probably the balancing on the tires, maybe a wheel weight fell off or is loose. Worst case scenario is you have a rim that is bent. But vibration at a certain speed and above is typically due to yours tires needing re-balancing.

depends on how much wear there is on all the tires, if the wear between them is more than 4/32nds then yep

My Tires are brand new, and freshly balanced just yesterday. when i had some kids at my school put em on. i think i know what the problem is, but it would feel more from the right rear instead of the left front. cambers only off on one wheel right now, but not by much. maybe a bent axle, thats my theory right now, thanks for the other stuff to look for tho, ill have more info tomorrow after i look at it. And yea, i think the left front might be all messed up since thats the only one i didnt balance my self, and its got a rim weight and stick on weight im going to talk to my auto teacher monday to see if i can bring that tire in for balancing or just go to shop close by.

Wait ya had some kids from your school put them on? Theres the possible culprit Make sure they balanced it correctly, some manufacturers recommend things like balancing with the wheel weights on the inside of the rim, or half sticky wieghts and half clip on.

theres a whole story on this where i almost punched 3 people out.... but anyway i balanced them all except the left front after school because one kid(good friend of mine) wasn't able to change and balance 4 tires in a n hour and half...

It's entirely possible the tire-balancing-noobs plus the (most likely) lower end balancer didn't do a fine job of balancing the weights or hammering them onto the rim properly. They'll fly off and cause all sorts of fun.

hahaha awd volvos if the tires arent within spec of each other say goodbye to the angle gear. so i kno about all this.

and the weights are different sizes the sticker one might have been very minimal weight.

Could be possible that just 1 of the wheel is not properly balanced. I'll give your friend the hour and a half to mount and balance tires since he is young and all. I saw one of the techs at my shop belt out some mount and balance on 4 tires in 15 mins lol

well we are juniors, and last year all we did was tires and oil changes, it shouldnt take that long, and plus he only got 3 done, and the one balanced, i had to do the last one after school and balance the rest. it wasnt too fun. i mean i got one tire done in 5 minutes, i was busy trying to break rusty bolts lose with a friend so we could do an alignment and that didnt go too well, lol either way it shouldn't have taken that long for just 3 tires, and one to be balanced wrong at that.

if it was a tire it would still do it when you brake its not a rotational vibration or it would be ther all the time the wheel is rotating its possibly a tie rod end most of the time its the outers that go first

Hard to tell over the internet with out felling the vibration my self. I don't think it is a tire though, because it goes away with the brakes applied and under load. Might be torque converter shutter, an axle or a worn mount. But its possible it a tire.

well i checked out the tire first, and its all wrong, i have like 3 oz stick on weight on the outside of the rim and there 2 rim weights across from each other on the inside of the wheel the ones starting to fall off also causing the weight to hit my strut causing the metal to metal sound, if it doesnt go away after i get the tire rebalanced ill move on to the axle or motor mount, i just had the trans fixed a little under a year ago so it better not be the torque converter.

Lift the car, check for play in the suspension.
Torque the lug nuts down (for Honda's it's 80 ft/lbs).
Have wheel balanced.

Do the first two first, since they are basically FREE.

They can loosen a bit after driving, always worth checking.
