Default Project: Full Pull

For those of you who grew up hearing the term, you probably already know what this project is about. For those who dont, here's what it means. In tractor pulling, full pull is a distance of 300ft or more. This is something I haven't seen done on here, so I figured I'd try it out. This will be my first actual project.

I will be attempting to make a 2wd drive pulling truck. i'll be using an Evo (car) chassis for this and a model 97 F-150 XLT body. Anyways, enough with the talk.

Other plans include:
Locking the dif
upgrading the dog bones
and eventually making a sled to go with it (but that might be awhile...)

Comment, criticism and questions are welcome.

Small update.

I have the rear mount made and it fits. Gotta figure out how to make the front mount. The clip is a little over 5 and 1/2 mm away from the bumper. I also made a cover for the bed.

Chassis is now extended, but with a cheap piece of plastic. I'll probably cut a small piece of metal and drill out small holes in it.

Bed cover is a good idea, since if I remember correctly they are like that in real life.

They do have a cover, but the back end of the body isn't as long, it has the wheel arch then it goes straight to the tailgate...or wat should be the tailgate >.>

Im not gonna bother with cutting up the back end, i doubt this will be lifting the front wheels off the ground anyways, even if i get a sled made. Which reminds me, if someone comes across some deminsions for an NTPA sled, could you pass me the link?

Thanks HotRod, I'd appriciate it.

I have a front mount for the body made, im not going to glue the bumper to the body until i get it paints. I can't decide what to paint it. I was thinking of the color scheme my truck has, two tone red and silver, but i was also thinking of black and silver... If you have any other ides for paint, feel free to leave them.

Two tone would look great with black & silver.

I got it painted earlier today. I went with black and silver. The pics were taken after i got home from work, not the best lighting. I'll get some pics of it in it's "natural habitat" in the morning.

Paint looks great, almost seems like the front wheels need to be wider to fill the wheel wells.

hey man your truck is looking great...nice paint scheme...and cool idea for a project as well...maybe treat us to some outdoor in the dirt shots?...will it be getting graphics or a funny name like some of the rigs have...i have seen tons of vintage funny car decals online that may work if you are thinking along those lines...lookin forward to your next update...and new pics too

maybe like this?

http://cgi.ebay.com/Dave-Pulde-War-E...item4aa23044ce

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-1-24-1-25-FL...item51915d4e2c

http://cgi.ebay.com/BigDawg-4x4-Mode...item255b3e125d

and one question...maybe shouldnt the rear of the truck sit up a little higher so as to expose more of the beefy rear tire?

They could be a bit wider, but how I'd go about doing that, I dont know >.>

I'm trying to figure out what to do for a motor, but I should prolly wait to figure that out when I make the sled...if i ever get around to it. And I have a question. Should this be considered 1/28th scale or 1/25th? *scratches head*

You could get some longer axels for the fron that would help a bit, or you could deep dish them.

As for the motor I would probable get a stage 1 with neo mags. So you have plenty of torque.

Here is a link for the longer axels:

I believe you have to order two of them because I think it is $4.99 a piece.

I might just go with deep dish rims or something. I'll get some new pics up Monday.

Could you possibly give me a link to the right size neo mags?

Next step is to lock the dif. I'll be ordering some new dog bones later today. I just hope i dont break these stock ones before i get the new ones...
