A Range of Problems
Both my Evo Truck and Evo Car are experiencing range problems. I only get a little more than 10 feet for both. I tried changing the controllers and this seemed to help my Truck, but the car is giving me the same problems. I highly doubt I blew something because I checked the board for any discoloration, and haven't found anything. Suggestions for improved range?
Also, where would you recommend to purchase a plastic antennae which won't cause a short if in contact with the motor or batteries? I don't want to possibly mess my board up during a fun run. Futhermore, both cars seem to love steering to the left. I know this was an easy fix for Gen 1, but is there a tutorial for the evo (centering the servo manually)? I hate having to adjust my trim every single time I power up (it seems as if the car and the controller won't remember the settings). Lastly, both of my Evos are equipped with Li-Polys. Now, the truck handles like a beast, best upgrade yet. The car however, doesn't seem to be having much fun; everything is very tight, not as loose and smooth as the truck. The Evo car was second hand off ebay, and this is my first Evo car chassis. Is it common for a similar spec'd Evo truck to outrun an Evo car? Thanks to anyone who replies |

turn both the controller and the car on. then while both are still turned on pull the crystal from the car then plug it back in, see if that helps at all ..
im not sure the reason behind this, but i had this same problem with one of my cars before. it was a quick fix to get the car moving when i wanted to drive it, but a real pain in the *** having to do that every time i went to drive it after turning it off. in the end i just garbaged the crystal and used ones that worked! |

the only way i can think of that would be a permanent fix for the turning issue is a resistor coming from the pot to the board, first off which wire is for which direction? i have been thinking about it and if you require it to receive a little more voltage before it says its center and all the way one direction it should fix the problem.

So basically, I got some copper wire and am now using that as an antennae. I get improved range, and it runs much better than before.
Now I took the car apart to mess around, and it seems to be running better. But when I hit reverse it makes a horrible sound as the gears begin grinding. Any tips? |
