1950 Ford F1 Restoration.
Me and my father decided to restore this pick-up. We bought it winter of 2006 and have been working on it since then. A 1950 Ford F1 1/2 ton pick-up. Me and him have done most of the work on it. All my other 3 brothers did was help get the cab on and off and sand down and paint the chassis.
Engine specs: -360 big block from a 1968 F-150. -Engine was bought for $600 running. We had to buy a carbeurator, alternator, belts, fan blade, air filter, and exhaust manifolds. -We were going to keep the headers on it, but they got in the way of the steering block. Body spes: -Body is in fair shape. Has mostly surface rust and a few holes. -Going to paint the truck black. Interior specs: -Seat from some van. -Going to put in gray interior. Wheel specs: -Eagle Alloy polished rims. -16" wides in the rear, 15" in the front. Chassis spes: -Sanded down, primered and painted black. Additional info: -Going to be mine when I get my license. -Had to buy brake discs for the front. Progress: -Engine and transmission mounted and bolted in. -Seat bolted down. -Passenger side fender bolted down. -Brake discs hooked up. -Brake line hooked up. -Shaft cut to proper length and bolted in place. -Driver side fender bolted in place. -Hood hinges bolted in place, hood bolted in place. -Cab bolted down. -Lights fully wired up. -Seat belts hooked up. -Ebrake hooked up. Part we are working on now: -Getting the sides of the bed made. -Getting the ehaust system ready to be put on.

Small update! We got the hinges on and the hood on. We also got the driver side fender bolted down.
We are thinking of either covering these holes or putting mesh and just putting pins on the hood to open it.

Very nice. Can we get a full body shot now?
Custom Classic Trucks featured a '50 F1 this month. I'll upload it right quick, it had some trick little things on it.

Here you go. I'll get a pic of the front when it warms up outside. I can't get it now because there isn't enough room between the garage door and the front of the truck.
When it warms up I'll get a front pic and today I have to start sanding down the underneath of the back and paint it.' Those are the best pics I can get for now. When I open the garage, I'll get better ones.

Nice project truck, hope everything works out on it.
One suggestion tho. You should have primered and painted the inside of the hood and fenders and firewall while you had it apart, would make it look more professional that way otherwise your going to have a B**** of a time getting it to look right. not criticizing just making a suggestion.

a couple of buddies and me are restoring a 56' ford-o-matic and it looks to be in about the same shape. what we've been doing is grinding down to metal(getting through all of that nasty assed undercoating) and spraying the ospho through an old latex sprayer. Quote:
those hinges dont really look bad at all..just some superficial surface rust. the actual metal will never weaken, just rust from the surface in. the springs appear to hold the hold and they are the most delicate part of the hinge assembly so they wont be a problem. i'm curious as to why the hood doesnt have the tension rods though. Quote:
it looks like the soloniod, battery and accessories were hooked up to run the motor. something tells me that this is just the "get it together" phase and once everything is fitted and running properly the truck will be taken almost completely apart again and gone over with a fine tooth comb before final assembly......sound about right???

That's right. We are just fitting everything in place, then we will take it apart and paint and such.

Thats due to the design of the GM hinge, it has one large spring that pulls only on one side. So over time, the pivot points wear out. Same thing happened to my CST/10's hinge: http://www.xmodsource.com/forum/show...0&postcount=42

Small update. I will take pics of the front of the truck when we turn it around and pull it into our garage. We got the cab mounted and when we turn it around we will bolt the bed on.
One question. Can we put that lower bar that goes across the truck on top of the leaf springs to lower the front of the truck? Big circle is part of the bar and smaller circle is one of the leaf springs.

I would bet you could. The suspension geometry won't change since it's all on the beam-axle. The most I would worry about is maybe steering linkage, and travel. Thats how you get some extra lift on modern trucks in the rear, with a spring-over-axle kit. To do the opposite would lower it a good 2-3 inches..
Though, check that up with some oldschool guys.. lol.

Wow, been a long time since the last update. Sorry it's been so long. My dad has been working late. We got a fuse box, wires, and new halogens and are working on the lighting. We are trying to figure out something for power steering.
Fuse box: About how much room we have for power steering box Random pics: We got the front lights working! Does anybody have any idea on what we can do for power steering? We heard Toyota might have a system, but we haven't searched on anything.
