The MERV (mini Revo) is about to become a whole new animal.. *Tenbol installed!
I just ordered:
Tenbols big block mount (540 sized motor where a 380 motor used to be ) 1 35 tooth 48 pitch pinion 1 43 tooth 48 pitch pinion 1 Thunder AC6 charger capable of Li-Po, NiMH, NiCD and also discharge. Reads battery temperature, can balance while charging, and also is capable of discharging, and has a storage mode.. that discharged Li-Po's to like 3.85v per cell for storage. Just Google it, it's an amazing charger with tons of features for only $55. And, two Turnigy 2200mAh 2s 20c Li-Po's. HOLY GOD I cannot wait until this all shows up. Oh, as for my choice of motor? My MM 5700 that was in the Slash. Oh yes, it's going to be an absolute MONSTER. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! That's my evil laugh, shut up.. don't make fun of it. Oh yes, there will be video.
I'm hoping parts will start showing up soon.. I am so excited to get this put together. Next on the list is steel CVD's.. my source never came through when he said he could get them, so I'll have to go somewhere else. Wonder how many plastic halfshafts I will go through until then.. A simple fix though is some heat shrink around the u-joints.. that will keep them from popping apart for now. |

Oh yes, I got the brushless. Wouldn't have gotten it any other way.
The way it sits completely stock, with two stock Traxxas Powercell batteries in a series (doubles voltage) it will do backflips from a stand still. It's not good on the drivetrain.. but it does it. To put things in simple terms, I bought a mount that will allow me to put a 1/10 scale brushless motor into a 1/16 scale R/C. Or, putting a 454 c.i. engine where a 305 c.i. engine used to be.. |

You are going to need even a backup set of steel CVDs with that sort of power!
Awesome idea. Cannot wait to see what kind of things happen! (You should try a Mamba CC7700kV on 2-cell LiPo next!) Cheers, Kyle.

Got my first package today, Tenbol baby!
I'll start off by saying, I'm not too impressed with them. Absolutely no tape on the box, just a little tab that folds in to hold it shut. And, the holes to screw the motor to the mount are just ever so slightly off, which made a little more hassle.. but it's installed. Mmmm, shiny. I really need to do some wire shortening. Might work on that later. Got to hack up my receiver box as well, now I just need my gears, charger and Li-Po's.. charger will be here Monday. Li-P's might be a long while, and gears.. no idea. |

Charger and gears just showed up today!! WOOHOOO!
Got the 35t gear installed, gave it a quick run while holding it in the air with an almost dead battery.. and OH. MY. GOD. the power was amazing. Now, mounting the ESC, hacking up the receiver box and all the little goodies.. change connectors on the charger and get a battery charged up.. and time for a test run. Oh yes. And oh yeah, where's all the love? Pssh, I see how you guys are. |

looking good man, can't wait to see a video of this thing running. don't you hate when you get something aftermarket and you have to do modifications to it? from holes off a little bit, to filing things to make it fit right. lol. get it all mounted up and get some more pics.

Just got everything mounted, charger is charging up a battery.. I love this charger by the way, seems great so far. It's ready for a test run, I also have the camera batteries charging to atleast get some pictures.. it's going to get dark soon though, so hopefully all of this will be ready before dark hits. And GearHead, I still never have gotten that pic man. Wonder what the deal is? If you can send to an e-mail from your phone, my e-mail is [email protected] Soon, the power will be un-leashed. |

Well, I took it out for a test run. It's already pretty much dark outside and the camera batteries weren't charged enough.. so I just went ahead and did it anyway.
I ran it on one stock Traxxas 6 cell NiMH battery.. it had good power, I think I need to mess with some settings because it cogged a little a few times. It would do a tame wheelie, it was over-all VERY controllable and still had plenty of speed. I would guess right around the stock 30 with one battery. The battery got really warm.. probably because it's not capable of keeping up with the MM system, and probably some of my settings. I'm going to tune it down a little, get both batteries charged up and go for a run with both in series and see how wild it is. |

I got my Li-Po's in today, but I started worrying if 20c was going to be enough for the MM system. So, for until I get an e-mail back from Castle Creations confirming or denying these batteries are enough, the stock VXL system is re-installed.
For those of you here who don't have Li-Po on these mini's.. you're missing out. A 2 cell Li-Po is the PERFECT power for the VXL system. You get GREAT wheelies but not so much power that you have to worry about flipping it with a blip of the throttle. I was actually able to maintain a long wheelie on the wing until I hit a higher spot on the road and went cart wheeling. Also, if any of you are experiencing weak brakes.. re-program your ESC. I did after putting it into LVC mode for the Li-Po.. and did a front flip the first time I hit the brakes. I didn't get it to do it again after that, but they work lots better now. |
