Man, despite the crap-run times (solved if you have a fast charger ), the dual motor kit makes these little things insane. Spend time getting the mesh perfect for both motors, and theres next to no parasitic drag from the 2nd motor, and insane torque... Ill post how mine is currently later.

different kind of scream, friggin people take things too literally. not sure who told you brushless is quiet, but they were wrong. its not overly loud, but it does make a different noise than a brushed motor. nitro is a waste of money in my opinion, but we arent going to go there because its my thread and i said so.

my drive train is nice and clean, it gets pulled apart fairly regularly to check for dust and debris in the gear boxes.

a brushless setup is a different style of electric motor. i'm not a hundred percent sure, but i'm pretty sure it works on an A/C circuit, as opposed to the standard type of motor which uses a DC current to run the motor. The setup requires the motor and an ESC that is made for a brushless motor. If you look at the pics in the first post of the thread you can see three wires coming from the motor compared to the normal of two wires for a standard DC type motor. I can't tell you what all the wires are for, but one is (+), one is (-) and I'm not sure exactly what the other one does besides allow an alternating current to run the motor.

A brushless motor has no brushes, duh... thats where it gets its name. This allows the motor to spin at a faster rate simply because it does not rely on the mechanical connection between the brushes and the armature of a traditional motor. Less friction, less obstruction, equals faster RPM's and loads more torque.

So it's basically the best type of motor you can put in one of these things, and you get all kinds of extra speed and torque.

1) yes it is an AE
2) it's based off their RC18B/T chasis. the only major difference is the length of the a-arms, suspension components and dogbones to get the more narrow wheel spacing.

Hm.. Before I was thinking of getting a X-Ray M18, becuase the suspension is SO nice, but I'm thinking of finding a roller 18R and going BL with it...

1.) Is the motor you have Sensored or Sensor-Less?
2.) And by 'Tunable-ESC' what do you mean like the Mamba, change everything?

1) not sure what you mean by sensored or sensorless, so you're going to have to elaborate on that a bit.
2) the ESC has seven pre-programmed throttle profiles as well as programable braking profiles so you can change how quickly the car accelerates and brakes. theres also a few reverse profiles to choose from if i remember correctly, but i never screwed around with that. The guy at LHS said that Mamba was crap compared to this system, but I really wouldn't know from experience since this is the first brushless system i've ever seen/used.

The motor only has three wires right? There's two varietie so of Brushless Motors. Sensored Motors, and Sensorless motors.

Sensored motors have a sensor that detects were the armeture and feeds that info to the ESC. There is ussually a few extra small wires from the motor, apart from the main three.

Sensorless motors have no sensor, and use the electric current genorated by the coils as the magnet passes (Generator-type Effect) by the coils. The ESC Reads this and determines were the armeture is.

I belive you have to have Sensored motor to compete in ROAR-Sponsered Compitions. There's a debate on which type is better, though.

How good is the torque on that motor? Like do you have really high-grip tires, or can it spin the tires when sitting still?

I don't own a BL system (yet..) but from what I've heard they're good on the low end. People say Sensor-Less Motors are quite rough on lower RPM's, but that's just what I've heard...

Just saw your in Calgary.. My mom went there on vacation and for a Confrence (She's a doctor). I saw the pictures. Beautiful place, the confrence was at a castle or something, and they stayed in like a Cabin. Really nice, I would love to go there someday..

The sensorless motors are IMHO crappy for low-end RPM. Thats why I decided not to use the Mamaba on my crawler. The Mamba tended to pulse on 1/4 and less throttle.

I don't think i've encountered this so called "pulse". my BLS seems to have very even throttle control throughout the throttle input range, i've never noticed that it pulsed at low RPMs, it seems like a really good system, and I love the way it performs. here's a link to the manufacturer's site:

lolz. My RC18T goes that fast. Plus my 18T body is painted red with black fade into the rear. I'm only running 6 cell too.

EDIT: don't get alloy wheels, your just adding more rotating mass. More rotating mass equals less top speed. if anything get the aluminum hub carriers. I know these thing like they were on the back of my hand just yesterday. i really know what im doing. Don't forget, i race these
