nope you couldn't.
behind there is the coils for the battery pack. if you drill into it you will have to find an alternitive power soloution. would be much eaiser to get the underglow kit and replace the leds. |

you could always make wheel wells out of styrene and screw to that..
Then you would have places half way around the wheel to mount a or multiple l.e.d.s

I was just thinking. Couldn't I use plastic weld and put on my own mounts? Then I could put mounts exactly where I want.

get some 2 part putty, tamiya, milliput, etc. and stick the mounts to it. will hold much better.

in my past experiences plastic weld can work, but usually ends up doing more harm than good. it would hold it, in the drying process it tends to move around the piece before drying, (melting it and going at wrong angle) if you get what im saying.
unless your talking about a different product than im thinking. the putty usually gives you better results, and a cleaner look

oh, ok, well i was thinking just having a piece of plastic with a small hole in it for the LED connected to the chassis, like... hmm... im trying to think of an example in a real world scenario... like a shelf! the wall is the chassis, and the actual shelf unit is what i want to put on, obviously it wont extend from edge of chassis to edge of chassis, but thats kindof what im looking to do.

lol, thanks for that. you can make anything work, but you can make things looks better when you actually control how it turns out, i.e. putty. you can mount a holder, shape around it, and make it look cleaner. you you also mold the led directly to side of that. then you can control how much light goes out the sides, and out the end of the led getting a more direct beam highlighting the certain parts you want to. you could mold around the led and just have the very end of the led showing, and you could direct the light to just the rim. or you could leave a little opening on the bottom side too and light up the wheel and directly below the light. its all about what you want lit up or not.

on the front end i would mount them by the top of the ep on the, kinda the pic your showing now, on the front of it where it meets up with the servo housing and angle them towards the wheels. on the rear you can do something similar as well.

Ok. Sounds good but I do have one more question about the putty. How does it stick to the plastic?

if you use the 2 part epoxy putty (tamiya or milliput) it bonds rather well. a few projects have been done with putty making body kits etc. dr kustom's fit, and a few other widebody projects. scuff it up a little with sandpaper 200-300 grit to "key" the surface like you would for paint.

you just need to key the surface your going to put it on so it bonds to it. but the putty itself doesnt need to be keyed

a lot of people i know that do model body conversions use it to mount their rear clip and frount mounts. they seem to hold up to impacts rather nicely.
