Default need help choosing the right car

i need to know what to ask for for my birthday...

i wanted this really bad:
http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=58406
$267 is a stretch, but then i noticed the rtr version (which i would want instead, too much stuff i would need to buy) was $400+. not happening. so i want something basically just like that but cheaper. it needs to be:
1. not open wheel
2. easily capable of off- and on-road driving
3. less than $250
4. hobby grade

Traxxas Slash strike your interest? It's electric. It's waterproof. Definetly offoad and onroad capable. All for $200 RTR without battery and a battery will only cost you $15 for a cheapo up to $50 for a good one.

I've seen the slash and slayer, both are top notch and you should look into them. That is pretty much your best option imo.

i will definately think about the slash for sure, but i also really want it to have just that normal, daily driver look (sorta like the cayenne i posted, i would've just painted it gunmetal without stickers).

I don't see what would be the difference in "daily driver" between the Tamiya and the Traxxas Slash...?

I think he is referring to the type of body on it. Traxxas slash is a good rc.

you can get the cayenne from rcmart for $180 rtr http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/rc-tam...cPath=420_1167 tamiya lists the stuff on there site at about double what everybody else charges because they believe that is better to shop at your lhs and I think that the cayenne is better than the slash because it is 4wd I own a ta-02 s-10 pretty much the same thing as the df-01 just a shorter chassis but I modded the **** out of mine and it is an awsome trail rig.

if you want some links to some builds with this chassis pm me.
but, I have to admit that the slash is awsome if you like jumping and racing but if you want a better all around truck go with the cayenne or you could look at what your lhs has and get what you want

Slash is well worth all the money. Whatever you do, do not buy any Losi Mini LST series monsters, the stock servos suck, trust me thats not one of the trucks I abuse and the servos keep breaking down. Slash hands down, very durable, water proof, scale, faster than LDT(I have raced an LDT with the same pack and I won) hard to break, jumps fantastic. Only problems are:
body roll, tires rub at first(electrical tape the spots it rubs) no battery or charger included, lastly and most important, hard to put the transmitter down!

Also AE has the new SC8 but its Nitro and Traxxas also has the Slayer but that too is Nitro.
