Default Return of the Cameo Crawler!!!

That's right, I'm finally taking back the cameo body out of the boxes and try to complete this project as planned.

I decided to join Lancer_man and field_fairy2 into their way to build a berg axle in the rear.

I don't plan to build a whole new gearbox out of styrene but i'm gonna hack the rear gearbox to act like one.

This is how I managed to build the axles out of pen tubinng and gen1 parts.

Shaved-off the gearbox for more clearance,

And it's pretty wide(3 1/2inch), compared to the stock lenght.

And That's pretty much all of the update you guys will get today!

Comments are welcome, as always!

Glad to see this back c1v1c. I am interested in how our 3 crawlers do as well as your custom berg axle design.

By the way there is now 1 in fieldfairy2

Another amazing project from c1v1c

This looks interesting, you definitely separate your projects from the rest. Trucks really don't phase me, but I'll keep an eye on this one

If I do a crawler, you have to help me out.

Thanks for the comments guys!

And of course I'd be glad to give you a hand if you ever will make a crawler!

__________________________________________________ _______

some of you guys might have realized already, but I do like to use a pen as a tubing materiel since I can't really get my hand on any brass tubes or anything better...

It seems to be spinning freely in there, so all I need to do is to take out my JB-weld epoxy glue and glue the crap out of the axle to make it stronger!

I love the ultra round axle! I also use pen tubing, since it's dirt cheap and easy to work with. And I don't have to braze or weld anything together. Looks good so far. Hopefully this doesn't turn into a year-long project like your skyline/civic, but that car turned out awesome! And what is the yellow spacer on the driveshaft for?

Kendall, I don't know yet, but I'm pretty sure I will..

I know Amorton, my project seems to be taking ages to accomplish, some never get done...

But xmod is just an hobby for me and I'm just modding when I have time or when I feel like it, so I usually never rush my big projects!

Thanks to surgeon for his wide axle tut! this is exactly what i needed to get the same lenght as the rear.

I bridged the rear axle with some aluminum plate for some reinforcement.

thanks!

What's with the front right tire? It looks all melted and deformed. Plan for hs-55 for steering?

These tires suffered from this http://www.xmodsource.com/forum/show...ighlight=c1v1c

I tried to make some pattern on it but I guess I screwed up.

But when it's done well, it shouldlook soemthing like this:

About the steering servo, I'm not sure yet...

Update!

I centrally placed the servo motor to have an overall better balance, which will prevent the truck from rolling over backward.

Hacked the main stock chassis to be able to add a gear to the driveshaft.

Adding a strut bar upfront will prevent bumpsteer when the springs compresses.

The truck runs rather quickly without sacrifying too much torque from the servo with my gearing setup.

Here's a test drive out of a 9volt battery.

As you can see, there is no ep hooked up yet thus mean no servo yet.
I plan on keeping the stock servo but if it isn't good enough, i'll swap for an hs-55.

Comments are more than welcome!

Thanks!

I like the strut bar; it is very creative in my opinion. This is definitely a unique crawler so far!

Lookin' good so far man.
The mid servo mount should really make a difference in the weight distribution.
Any idea on gear ratio?
Hat's off to you for creativity Definately a unique project.

Later, T.I.M
