Default Hummer Sut Conversion

Well i have looking at some of the other hummer sut conversions done by other memebers on the forum & another one trying to get some ideas & i finally decided to start on it. I just need to finish cleaning the body up some more, then i need to get the rear window at the right angle & shape that i want (having troubles with that). Then i get to start gluing, puttying. !!!Ya!!!
I have no idea what im going to do for paint yet, so any ideas would be appericated.

Enough talk here are some pics of it so far:
Before:

After cutting rear off:

Then after some tidying up & smothing out:

Then here lies the problem for me, i can't figure out how much more i need to take off of it & i don't want to screw it up & i don't want the last part of the window showing too its like a quarter of a window. lol

Questions & comments apperciated.

looks like good progress so far...for inspiration you could check out bondo"s hummer from one of the past couple contests...truly an amazing and realistic conversion...good luck with the rest...

Update time. I smoothed it out some more on the back & added the roof rack too it (Drilling the holes was a pain in the butt) lol & i got got the rear window about were i want it too be. The back window stiil needs a bit of shaping & i still need to attatch it & i think it needs to be lifted up a bit more too.

Here are the pics:

I think this will answer your question.

OK this Update is for kryten :::
I finally got around to working on the bed & i think i got it about were i want it too sit & i still need to add a back to it inderneath the window. I havn't really done anything else to the rear window yet, im still planning out what im wanting to do.

Also Ignore the Gaps between the bed & the hummer, i have an idea to fix that & i think it will look pretty good. Just need to get some Styrene or some other sort of plastic.

Sorry Mods for double post but i just had too post up this update.

Update Time:
Added that little suprise i had except i didn't say it was a suprise in the last update. lol

Still needs some shaping & smoothing out & i need to make the trim a little bit thinner for more realism.

Here are the pics:

Well here are some pics of it with the KC light bar on it, NOTE: If i choose to do this i will cut everything to fit & it will be level with the body not sitting a few mm higher, the way it is now. Also i made the back window & front of the bed one solid peice.

Here are the pics with the KC Lights on it:

Then without the KC lights, just the bar:

Let me know what you guys think.

The roll bar isn't doing it for me, but the rest of the project is fantastic. Keep up the good work.

All of the other guys on xmf are saying yes for the light bar.
But im still undecided, so i could go either way on this.

Sorry for the double post mods. Just had to Post this update up.

I was just being stupid when i did this & i showed it too my stepdad & he said it looked cool & it made it look more real the way i did it. So i may keep it but just make some minor adjustments, so it sits right. Also i am in need of another Roll bar (Hint). If i can get another one i will move the lights up to the First rack & put just a bar in the second rack without lights on it, so that way it looks like it has a roll bar & a 1/4 of one & then the lights in the front.
Also my stepdad said that the lights should sit about were the are since in real life the lights would need to be able to shine over the cab & hood to the ground in front of the vehicle.

Some teaser Pics:

Let me know what you guys think.

Meh. Maybe it's because I'm crazy.

A light bar may look good to give it that offroad rugged type look, but the way it sits now, the light bar just looks a little too high to me. If anything, I would move it to the front of the cab, not the back, if it were my Xmod. Do what you like though.. after all, it is your truck!

Cheers,
Kyle.

Well i put the lights above the cab & i think it looks good. Also im trying to decide wether to have the double bar on the back or a single? You guys can help me decide that.

The body work i did & i think i did a good job on it. But i won't know for sure until i put a coat of primer on it.

Well i've been camping all weekend & i just got back, so i ment to put this update up before i left but i didn't get chance too.

Well i made a new trim piece (again) for the bed & i made it a little bit thicker were the roll bar is so that way it looks nicer when it sits there & i also made the back of it curve jsut enough that it lined up with the back of the hummer.

Sorry no pics, but i may post some up later. Although its pretty easy to visulize.

Well this will be my last update for awhile since school started up today & i already have homework on my first day as a Sophmore.
Also on Monday i had to have something cut out of my face under my right eye, so that was a day wasted at the doctor's. lol

So these updates will keep coming but just not as often.

Well i decided to go with the single roll bar, i think it fits it better although the double made it look more offroady & tougher. Also oyu can see my new back trim & how it now lines up with the body, with the slight curve & its a bit thicker on the sides for the roll bar. Also i need some ideas on what to do with the back window, because it looks so blank right now, but i do have the vents from the lights to put on the window, so thats something, but it needs something else & im not sure what.

Here are some pics:

Then here is my blank back window.
