It should be fine, but thats gonna add some weight to the top of the truck, making it more prone to rolling.

I would mount them either to the inside of the truck body or on top of the board cover. On top and exposed isnt really a good idea.

If your liths are getting hot enough to cause the velcro to catch fire then I suggest you pick up your xtruck, yell "fire in the hole" and throw it as far as you can....

In other words velcro will work just fine.

velcro will work just fine and mounting them in the bed would work and if you want them protected put a tonneau cover over them.

i have my lipos on my profile rc planes with velcro. when the battery got hot it would heat up the velcro and make the sticky side melt and fall of so i would put hot glue on it when i applied velcro. it was still so hot that it even melted the hot glue!

Yeah, I could imagine that happening, but thats because an RC plane motor is going to be drawing a lot more power than an xmod motor. As long as you arnt running a super modified motor in your Xmod, and you dont run it for two hours straight, it wont get hot enough to melt glue or catch on fire. I used to play airsoft, and LiPos in an airsoft rifle will catch on fire during long games (long as in 3-4 hours), but again, that motor is more than twice the size of an xmod motor, and it moves a heavy gearbox.

You could also try getting the battery holder and mount it in the back of the bed.

I thought about mounting them on the battery cover.

you could do a battery relocation mod and use the case piece and and cover all holes in the clip.

or use a f150 tonacover and like lift it up alittle or lower the bed piece itself

I did this once to my F150 monster truck. popped wheelies but eventually caused the fets to catch fire.
I raised the body of my lowered Titan that runs liths to fit them under the bed and it flipped at high speeds til I made a reversable locking system for the articulation. now it burns through tires running the helicopter motor I used in it. I plan on making it more of a rally truck now.
