Make sure all the bushings are in the front gears. Could be one is missing, and causing the gears to bind.

as you saw, the 4wd kit has 3 driveshafts, make sure you put the correct driveshaft that fits your chassis, otherwise the little red gear will fall short and grind. also, like texan said...theres a red gear on top of the differential that RS refers to as the "second gear" there are 2 tiny metal studs on the ends and these are supposed to have little plastic bearings/bushings on them, if one or both or missing it'll grind badly, finally, make sure your bearings are in the correct places on the differential itself, the differential should have two bearings on it, one to the far left and the other just to the right of the gear, if you can get any pictures of what you have in your gear box they may help us a little bit, if you want me to link up some pics about what im talking about with the little bushings on the 2nd gear and such just let me know, i'll take pics and go further in depth tomorrow evening =)

Anyways on topic I thought that I would put out some information on this topic that I know. Here is a link to one of the threads that I made can try to help if you have any questions. This eliminates the grinding sound, I just put my 4x4 back in my xmod and thought I would try and get this info out to you guys and gals.

SUPERSHELBY: I didn't necessarily do it for dekker who originally posted this thread. I did it for who ever would need this information whenever they want to put their 4WD in their truck. Plus I didn't want to make another thread on the same topic basically, I see there is already two for sure. Let me know if better pictures would help I noticed the third picture doesn't work for some reason when you go to the link I provided above.
