PH2T is probably a few years before your time, the Aussie responsible for inventing the Nelly Turbos. Just out of free whim wired up 3 cell lipos (back when lipo and evo's 1st met) and it surprisingly survived on a stock board. Ran it for a long time with no problems form the excess voltage and it was hilariously fast. It's somewhere on XMW though, not here.
I remember! That was awesome, I think original old Evo boards are subject to survive more abuse than the newer ones.

XMW is quite mixed up. Infernal RC might still have the post, but that's a ghost town. Ripper7Racing will soon disapeer, but there's information on making fast cars on there if you check the archives...

XmodsForum.co.uk might have the info as well.

XMW's search is functional, with enough patience with it's slow servers it could happen. But PH2T went off the map too so....

XMF won't have anything that far back, they didn't have any of the respected members at that time after the whole "turbo" bonanza.

Yup! It was for sale for a while. 04-05 ish? When I came around. But I never saw one used. It adapted the Xmods PCB to an aftermarket speed controller. So this was before people were throwing in 1/18 stuff I'd have to assume.

Note that the responses after the initial post are in reverse... The site did not translate well into the new format last year.

As texan said, as long as you can measure a set distance and it is fairly long. you can setup a fairly cheap (but accurate) laser timing system.

The using the time and distance you can easily find out speed.

The problem is getting smooth ground where you can floor it for long distances without going out of range or flipping over or some ****. At this scale there is truly no way of keeping a car going 50+MPH steady. Unless you bump up the stance. in which case your not really an xmod anymore.

Thats the other thing. The definition of an xmod. i mean with $500 you can pretty much put a nitro engine onto a completely remoddled xmods chassis. But is that even an xmod anymore? I think for it to be an xmods it has to run on the standard power source of AAA's batteries., but then what about 5, 6, 7 and so on cell cars with more fetts or external boards modded in. Hell what happens to the cars which are replaced with straight circuitry and no internal except for a go stop switch...?

Steal the IR sensors off a garage door opener, done and done.

What about lith powered, stock board xmods? Are they not xmods?

I don't care what it is as long as it runs the xmods chassis. If you put a LS2 into a Miata, is it still a Miata? Of course it is.
