Default OL Toyota Hilux (Mini version of Tamiya's Hilux)

This is a new 1st time project for me - It's a Mini-Z Overland Toyota Hilux, it will be based on the 1/10 Tamiya version (similar to what Xmod4life is doing on the Xmod truck Chassis). I have already done alittle work on this one - I widened the wheel wells abit, cut out a space for the chassis and i've alos done half the interior already too. This one shouldn't take so long since it's doen't involve a complicated mounting process, but I'll have to make a few custom pieces so that will be the only time consuming thing for this one.

Here's a quick mock up of the body and chassis:

I have to get new rims for it also - hopefully I can find some nice alloy ones or another set of cool looking offroad rims.

(Note to mods: I couldn't figure out where to post this since there's no other "Project" section for non-Xmods projects - if it's in the wrong section please feel free to correct/move it- Thanks in advance!)
(Note to X: Thats cool dude - its fine here the time being maybe if we have more people with Mini-Z projects we can make a new section otherwise no biggie! B1G)

And how was he spamming, holy crap? Spamming would be him just saying "nice" or something.. wow.

Looks like an awesome start to the project, keep us updated.

Yeah thats pretty funny considering there is a BMW M5 and a Baja Buggy sitting in the background on what look like Xtruck chassis be interesting to see what the X-man can do with a Z!

Anyway good call X thats a sweet truck!

Nice X! Have fun with the project and can't wait to see some more progress pics. Are the Overland's 4WD or RWD?

**** Xman, the wheelbase lined up perfect to the body. seems like an awesome project, especially being on that miniz chassis. does it articulate at all or is that just an Xtruck thing?

@Titanaw - Thanks dude!@lilskipro - it's my first MINI-Z Overland (OL) project - I think that's the 1st thing I mentioned. Spamming???- who?? where??? what??
@Lingvette - thanks for pointing that out.
@B1G - Thanks dude. The BMW X5 and the Rally Pajero are both Mini-z OL's - I just have the Xmods stock tires on the rally truck because it gives it more clearance and traction too. I won't be cutting up these chassis - too darn expensive -lol.
@Xmodracer - thanks dude. OL's are RWD only which kinda sux in way imo.
@kungpow - thanks for the suggestion dude. I'll leave it like that for now cause the chassis will be civered up in a way on this one.
@Suicide - Thanks bro. The OL's have about 5 different settings for the wheelbase along - it's like that because they have a few othe bodies that are longer than some of the others. These have spring shocks and links so articulation is pretty much for the front and rear - it's a way different set-up than the X-truck.

Thanks guys!

The interior is almost done - it just needs to be painted black now. Here's a few pics of it so far:

Here's how it's mounted:

The mounts are pretty much easy and it's teh most sturdiest way I could think of for it. I have to cut the screws and then it will be painted black so the screw heads will barely be visible also.

Just incase some of you guys don't know what the Tamiya Hilux looks like, here's a pic of it:

I got few custom pieces to make for this one so i'll keep you guys updated on it.

Default Updates: 3/10/08

Ok guys, I did alittle work on it this weekend:

Now I have to add the second part of the paint scheme, add the front grille, and add in the tinted windows. I'll be doing the body details last on this, and I also have to finish making the front brushguard, side rails and the front skid plate too.

More updates to come soon.

I'd lower it a little bit, but other than that it looks sweet!

Are the rims staying that color? Black would look better, IMO.

Thanks dude! I wish i could lower it but if I do it kinda gets in the way of the front and rear suspensions. I'll be getting a new set of alloy rims for this project - those are just temps for now.

Thanks dude! I will be putting on alloy rims with the same swamper tires and i'm not adding any lights or winch to this one - it's strickly for show (kinda like the original mini-z autoscale bodies).

Thanks for all the cool comments guys.

So far i'm about 85% complete with it, there's still a few little touch-ups to do and also a few to be modified and custom made.

Here's a few pics of it so far:

I'm also waiting for a new set of alloy rims to arrive in the mail so i'll be getting rid of that odd set on it in a few days :halo:

More updates to come soon!

Wow, that's almost identical! Love it!

Too bad there's no ground clearance, the chassis looks plain silly like that.

I'll be trying to make it the chassis less visible if I can get a set of the stock shocks. I just need to make them more longer and make a few ajustments to the lower suspension brace/swivel piece. If I do that I might black out the entire windows also - the interior will be in the way of the chassis and it's not really needed imo.
