get back to work!....slacker
time to dig up some old, unfinished projects and get em done.
the first two are kind of old. the f-150 has been squatin' in a box for almost 2 years and the hummer has been napping for just under a year. i'll add new old projects to this thread as i finish em first up is the f-150. i was going for a slammed street truck look. original thread. http://xmodsource.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9338 after some putty fun... the base is tamiya quick dry then bondo spot glaze for smoothing. this was the update. new updates tonight. here's the hummer SUT i started. original thread. http://xmodsource.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13732 the crappy pics i had. i don't have any build pics..... new updates tonight. cheers, Updates as found in this thread: here's how i pulled em out of the box and where they're at now. after some putty and high build primer. also the proposed look for the hummer. i've still got some finish work ahead of me.... and that's the progress until now. the hummer is ready for paint. the f-150 still needs a good bit of putty work to get it just right. more to come soon quick update... i got the ridges laid out. pulling refernce.. how conveinient, my rule is exactly the width between 3 ridges..that makes things simple enough.. splittin' hairs... yes i know my nails are dirty.... you try picking at your ***,nose and ears at the same time and see how your's look.........sure hope you don't chew em.:nono and yes i know(now) that my ridges are slightly off center but those bastids are on the money as far as distance. i wish i would have caught that slip up in time but what's done is done....... i got the ridges puttied and back in black. suprisingly it only took one coat of putty. it didnt get a pic of it but the majority of this putty was sanded off. only what was closest to the ridges and a little bit to lvl the muck ups from the liquid weld was left. while i was waiting for all of that to dry i started brainstorming. then started building.... now, i did all of that to do this.... sidepipes.... lol j/k the real reason is this. the sidepipes are to hide the new body mount well i got the OK from surgeon to finally show this car. both of us had a hand in creating this one. all of the killer graphics are waterslide decal designed and created by surgeon. i painted and applied the body wrap. let me tell ya,if you thought waterslide liscense plates and sponsors were a pain.....you were wrong!! i've vynil wrapped a 1:1 car so i know the goings on but the decals don't stretch and they dont like curves... 'nough talkin. pretty *****in layout eh? thanks surg, this one came out great. BTW, we'll be selling this soon Last edited by bondo; 02-13-2009 at 07:00 PM.. |

if you guys can find some wild designs/concepts and post em it would be appreciated. i've had a couple requests for a lightning tutorial and i've been wanting to do one for awhile so i think i might use the hummer for that. Quote:

i didnt use anything fancy or extremely expensive. infact both trucks add up to around $30 for supplies used and i could do atleast 4 more with the supplies leftover.. F-150 firebird scoop,foglights,spoiler...$4 for the kit. tamiya quick dry putty....$8 a box(did both vehicles with leftovers)(skim) bondo spot glaze/putty $6(did both vehicles with leftovers)(skim) plain styrene sheet...$3(did both vehicles with leftovers)(liscense box) grey filler primer....$4 flat black primer....$4 hummer same as F-150 minus the firebird parts. the bed cover on the hummer is a piece of the styrene sheet. you just have to cut it big and whittle it down until it fits and is the right shape. the same method was used for sectioning the body though it was already chopped when i got it. i got the body from Xmodification, he said he didn't cut it and could'nt remember who did. does'nt matter though, whoever did it did a decent job of cutting it clean. all i had to do was section it enough to mesh back together evenly and fill the gaps. i should have more done by the morning. cheers, |

i like the hummer, you said you're about to paint it, but if you could pull it off... i think some of those handle bar things on back to tie stuff down would put the h2 over the top...is 12 hours a long time for a putty to cure completely?

thanks guys. we were talkin on another forum last night and with some help i decided to add the luggage ridges back in for realism. i got the ridges puttied and back in black. suprisingly it only took one coat of putty. it didnt get a pic of it but the majority of this putty was sanded off. only what was closest to the ridges and a little bit to lvl the muck ups from the liquid weld was left. while i was waiting for all of that to dry i started brainstorming. then started building.... now, i did all of that to do this.... sidepipes.... lol j/k the real reason is this. the sidepipes are to hide the new body mount cheers, |
