Default Crawler Project (w/ Merc3des)

Well merc3des and I have been planning this for a while. It is a crawler, I know, there is tons of crawlers, but we want to make one for fun.

So far we have a custom wired lithium kit, so there is no wires under, for maximum clearance. We taped up the liths with blue electrical tape just so they don't get scratched. The are usually steel plated. A Radline SP is in there right now

We turned slammed rims backwards, put some M/T Tires and painted the inside of the rims. It's gunna be really wide set.

Plans for future:

Offroad upgrade kit
Servo motor/high torque motor
4WD
Extended axles
*A secret, the one lithium AAA is a hint*
Painting the F-150 Body
Aluminum Skid Plate

Pictures so far:

This is our lifting method. Just testing it out on a Nissan Titan clip. It works great, just gotta get some more plastic tubing. I know its lopsided at the moment, it will be fixed!

3.7V seems like the perfect voltage to power a winch...

I have always wondered about a crawler with lipo....
I can just see it now.....

Teen severely injured due to battery explosion from a RC car!

I have just always pictured crawling over rocks, and like tumbling down and the pack getting punctured and exploding....

Any ways, looking good. If you are gonna use a servo motor I think that kind of power would burn it out after a while.

Yea, I might go with gomer's gearing secret. It uses a regular motor and gears to create a fast godly crawler motor. The lithium isn't lipo, its square lithion steel cased, so it won't explode Sorry guys

They aren't very soft, they hold grip on most soft surfaces though.

BTW mike do you have any stock arms?

Well you peaked my interest with it.... I've got a lith powered crawler that I've been working on for about 2 years now all I need is the shell back from Bondo and its ready to rock but it doesn't have a secret battery like yours does

Are you planning on widening the axles??

Yea, the XI wide axle stub, is way overpriced. You can do it for free if you have the extra axle stubs.

Wide stance also means that your rig becomes less capable of climbing over narrow objects (think of it as when you lengthen the wheel base, and ruin the break-over angle/gets high centered easier) and also becomes toublesome in tighter areas.

What tires are those? IROC's suck, but if you set them in boiling water it can help soften them. AOSHIMA's are the bomb though.
