Project: Goldmember!
Here's my latest projecty-thing. I got a new Barricade, so I figured, "Hey why not paint the older, beat-up body?" I did. It's Plastikote Metallic Gold (Pretty good for sitting on a shelf for 3+ years.) with a flat black hood, roof panel, and rear spoiler. I'll get the last coat of clear on it and the details soon. Updates after that!
Okay, so here are the pictures: Body: Bumpers: Flat black parts: I forgot to add before, I'm using Tamiya Pearl clear coat!

That looks very nice!
Smooth paint, and great color. Can't wait for updates.

Hmm... I put the last coat of clear on and I went and moved it to my workstation about 45 minutes later, and I left a huge fingerprint on the passenger side! Should I just mask the area off, sand it down, and repaint it?

i think you should put on another coat if there is a fingerprint, snading would probably add to much work, and if you mask off the rest and repaint, you run the risk of two differnet color zones, like isaid one or two more light coats evenly on the entire car.

Don't paint, don't tape.
Just sand down the trouble spot carefully, and reclear. If you just paint on it, the print will still show. If you tape off, you'll have an incredibly distinct paint line.

Wow, that's a nice color! And great job painting; nice and smooth. Definately don't mask, from experience I know that the masking tape will indeed leave a nasty imprint.

I just remasked the windows, sanded down the area, and painted again. I tried just sanding out the fingerprint, but it was too deep and I ended up sanding through the paint. I'll get updates after school today.

The bumpers are done. I need to re-do the body again, **** fingerprints... I waited 2 hours or so and it still happened! I couldn't just sand it down and reclear, (I ran out of clear coat, getting more soon.) It physically dragged the paint off of the body and made it all smudgy. But, here are the bumpers, I think they turned out great. :

Looks nice. I like that gold. stinks that the body is messed up. Hope it turns out. Keep us updated.
You copied my flat black chassis... I don't care. I like it. Keep it up.

Haha, I guess great minds think alike.
I laid the (hopefully) final coat on to the car about a half hour ago, I'm going to clear it now before the Belmont Stakes start. (Go Big Brown!)
