Default Help me make a burnout king

Ok guys I'm pretty new to modding Xmods, but I'm pretty good with electronics and mechanical things (mostly real life cars & A/V equipment). I've got a 77 Trans Am model kit lying around and I want to take one of my Gen1 Xmod chassis and build a Xmod Trans Am that will have REDICULOUS torque. I want to be able to shred the tires at full throttle, not really worried about top speed, just down low tire shredding action. As in actually leaving big black marks on pavement.

1.) What motor would you suggest? And should it be modified? If so, how?

2.) What type of rear differential setup?

3.) Upgrading wires of batteries?

4.) Anything else?

Thanks for reading, your replies are appreciated. If I get this project going I'll keep you guys informed with writeups and pics. Hopefully one day I'll even be able to post some videos of this thing shredding micro-tire rubber.

There's lots of engines out there...if you're planning of shreading tires (i've never seen it done before) if it indeed possible; you're probly going to want a VERY high torque motor. Xmods International has some (xmodsinternational.com)
Atomic Mods has some (i believe, haven't visited that site ina while)
If you can't find what you want there search "Xmods RC" on ebay and scroll down to the stores PDQ mods (an ebay store) has many many different motors.

I'm sure you'll want Lithium-Ions too (hehe i said it before musclecars!! maybe...if I finish typing this in time!...LOL)

Locked diff would be best, and I would recomend hard tires.

Lithium batteries for sure. They give you a lot power. Locked differental will help as well. Don't worry about awd, you want all your power going to the rear tires. A high torque motor will help too. If you want a motor with a lot of power, you might have to upgrade your FET's. Check atomic mods.com, thats where I got my motor.

Tell me how it goes, and good luck

liths, a hi-torque motor w/ neo mags, locked diff, and some way to keep the car in the same place, sort of like an e-brake.

Well here's some simple questions...

I've heard about doing the spinbrush mod, will that make the engine produce more torque? or less?

also what about a 6 cell setup? that way it will be lots of weight helping hold the car still (inertia).

I guess my biggest question is, what setup should I shoot for to create the most TORQUE? Not slow, rock crawling torque, but nice tire spinning torque?

ya first of all , dont use 6 cell if you want tires to thread, instead use lith and put some dead weight on the car, second, spin brush makes more torque, but not enough to shred tires on an xmod, you would probly want something bigger than the 130 motor and some gear lower than the 8tooth to actually leave black marks on the pavement and shred the tires at least thats what i would go for anyways

Lipolies and a 180 high torque motor, or some motor rewound with high turns, and Neo magners. As for tires, get something with shreddablity, but little traction.

I think I've seen it done before.

Not if you can find a decent heatsink. The on that Radion Shack gives does nothing but add extra weight. What company was it that had the colored smoke burnout? That is so cool. I'd like to see that on an Xmod.

If you want to really just sit and spin pretty much, I'll Recommend and warn you... Use furniture polish on a smooth surface. it'll be Incredibly slippery, i did it on my basement floor (Concrete, sealed) and my xmods took at least 5 seconds before it actually moved from the start spot and by the time it got to where i wanted it to stop, it just kept going like ice. its fun, but kinda dangerous to the xmods body lol

well what I'm contemplating at the moment is putting all of the weight toward the front, to give the back little traction, then installing some neodymium magnets into a stage 1 motor running off of the 6 cell conversion. Quick question though...

Would an EVO stage 1 motor fit in a classic Xmod chassis? I don't have any stage 1 motors lying around except the ones that came in my Scion TC & Ford F-150, and I'm planning on using my Skyline chassis for the basis of this project.

And another question, how much more powerful are the L-ion batteries than having 6 cell?
