GMC CrewCab X-Truck Project
Ok fellows - i'm kinda feeling like a building a custom truck again so i'll be using my GMC CC truck that I was using in one of my other projects for this one. The SSMT project is going to used for a Dodge Ram pickup truck now (SSMT project on hold at the moment also).
I have done alot of work on the body but I have not taken any recent pics so here's a pic of what it should look like: My paint scheme is still the original idea that I had in mind: Updated pics of chassis and body will be posted later today. I already have a Evo truck chassis with custom front suspension and a custom steering mod done, now I have to work on lenghtening the chassis and making it 4WD with a custom metal drive-shaft. I'll be using a servo motor in the rear but I also have another idea that I might use for the rear motor. Interior for this one might be done but i'm not completely sure of it yet. Thanks for looking guys and i'll be sure to update this a.s.a.p.

Pics of steering mod with HS-55 servo.
Thanks guys! I appreciate the comments and support!
Here's a the HS-55 servo modified steering on the chassis that i'll be using: This is the 1st time i've tried it out since I saw it on the scale4x4 forum - it actually works great but I need to work out a few minor kinks in it (needs a slightly longer "L" steering guide). More pics to come soon.

That does look very nice.
How's the turning radius? (A video like that of Avant's off MZR would be nice.)

Edit: @ noturday - it was going to be a SSMT truck but I got me a Dodge Ram model the other day and i decide to switch up the plan. SSMT will be continued as soon as I can get to work on it (after this one I guess).

THis is gonna be awsome. That suspension job looks interesting. Definetly will work better than the stock suspension. I noticed you have a spacer or two under the top plate. What is that for exactly? Either way this thing will turn out great. Like all your other projects.

Thanks dude! the spacers are simply there to add alittle more suspension hieght (adds more room for the spring to compress fully).

Ok now i get it. Is it hard to install the Hs 55 servo as a steering mod?
I might have to do a steering mod because my crawler need a mile and 3 hours to turn.

updates 2/6/07
Thanks for the compliments guys!
Just a few little updates for now, I had to work on the chassis again since it wasn't turning as much as I wanted it to. Anyways, I made a new "L" steering guide, I added a ball and socket to the steering servo, and I also centered the servo in the middle with a few mods to the top of the chassis. Here's what it looks like now: Here's the truck body so far - it's ready for the first coat of paint which should be done later today: More updates to come soon.

Uh-oh, X is doing it again....I can't watch....ok I have to. X this is going to be amazing. It is seeming more like a hobby-class truck since you got rid of the cruddy steering servo, and you also did the springs in a different fashion.
