Laydown adapter

Does anybody know how to create a crystal adapter similar to the ones AtomicMods offers for the Mini-Z AWD chassis? This may be helpful to a lot of people who arent accessible to making purchases online (and on a tight budget to say the least).

EVEN BETTER: is someone willing to cut open their Laydown Adapter and show its 'anatomy'? I have some useless gen1 xmods boards (with the crystal thing) so I would rather make one if it were as simple as i think it is.

This is more in the direction of a Mini-Z related question, but no one really visits there. But, this could also be more of a general electronics question (If a mod wishes to move this to the Mini & Micro section, feel free since its your power to do so.)
