lol, thought you wanted acid...junky! lol. I don't think the evos ever came with a lsd. the gen 1 awd kit had one, it was just tougher to make slide. otherwise, open ended and crappy.

some others have tightened up the diff where the pin goes through that holds it together

depends on the power plant behind it. i had some on stock motors hold up for awhile, where a higher torque motor won't last that long before needing redone. but he was asking for suggestions...........

it doesn't do anything to screw up anything. maybe you tapped it in too hard.
and on the end with the little gear, you'll need to file down the rounded end of the dogbone that goes into the diff so that the pin doesn't interfere with it.

It doesn't mess anything up. If done too tight it will lock up the diff and cause some heavy understeer until the back breaks loose and then heavy over steer..

really there is no great way to do it on an xmod to my knowledge. i am actually working on an xmod diff that uses different viscosity fluids just like in off road 1/8th scale vehicles. this will make it a bit heavyer, but i am hoping it will be compact enough to work in the tight space. maybe to get a more "real" limited slip effect going you can put some kind of a jelly substance in it so that it is looser than putty. the way putty sounds to me would make a locked diff. limited diff would still have movement. it would still be a fully functional diff

Actual RC diff grease works pretty well, especially the kind that's designed to go into 1/8 gear diffs.

Vaseline is junk, tried it, fails.

The Evo diff is a hard one to turn into an LSD, on the Gen 1 and the Mini-Z AWD all you have to do is insert two 0.2mm thick shims into the casing and you get an instantly adjustable LSD.

Evidently (beanoman from GSR did this) you can take out the diff pin and put a screw in its place, with some modifications to one of the outdrives to make it spin around the screw. With the screw in, though, you can definitely set the diff tension to your liking.
