by all means, you're right.......
light colors DON'T HAVE to be painted on first.
but me and a few of the other fellas will tell you that it's ALWAYS better to start with light.

again, reinventing painting methods will get you nowhere except for that town called moreworxville.

ok.. bondo, im not trying to cause any "arguments" with anyone on the forums im just doing the project the way i want to... i never really asked for anyone's advice.. but since its a forums website ofc people are going to give advice.. and yes i do read them and take them into consideration(and i will admit on thing.. i am very stubborn)
and that post wasn't "sarcastic" it was true.. because i am glad that you agree with me and now i feel bad because everyone is going to think what you are thinking

alright, i'm going to do something that not many people have seen me do.
i'm going to appologize and say i'm sorry for coming with that kind of tone but that last reply just seemed like a big "**** off" to me and the other guys that are trying to help.

you're absolutely right though.
it's your car and your going to paint it the way you want to.
just don't be suprised if you don't get any ooh's and aah's over the final outcome.
again, you might have your chit in line and pull off a killer PJ but from your progress thus far,i just don't see it happnin'.
if you do then more power to ya.

well the truth is.. i havnt been being nice with you guys either and i hope you accept my apology.

EDIT: and now... i noticed water has a DARK side i was testing my blue paint to see if it works well(because the yellow was fluorescent and was wasnt going to look nice with the black) and i could have painted the car blue instead of yellow and the blue was shooting bursts of blue paint and it painted my sideskirts.... so i put them in water immediately so it will loosen up the paint.. (i was painting at night and i put it in water around 10:00pm) the next morning i look at it.. and it was dissolving my sideskirts! here are pics of my poor sideskirts

wow its been a long time since an update.. i decided to change my project a bit.. so i painted it completely black
Ignore the other parts, im painting them for my truck

pics.. yes its very messy.. its my first actual paint job without any supervision so i got it on my hands a bit and plus the can was almost out and it came out a little wet =/ but still.. no supervision .. ussually my bro helps me paint.. he did the body main body for the last update.. to show me then he stood by me and corrected me while i did the bumpers..

it looks like the rear window and holes are not painted yet but they are.. the lighting there sucked =/

might give u somthing to think about ... well not really, lol but still you might get some ideas comments are welcome

What kind of paint are you using? And are you even shaking the can?

Judging from the over spray that's laying down in large drops. Not the way to a smooth paint job.

And the water does not dissolve plastic.... Goodness.. Get sand paper (400 grit works fine) and start over on them. And listen to what bondo says ****it, he gets paid to paint.

im using Testors rattle can spray paint(its about 4 years old).. its a little sticky ill admit that and its not smooth at all and im gonna use bondo's tips/advice on my golf gti project(once my lazy bro drives me to the hobby shop so i can buy the stuff i need) i already messed up a lot so im just gonna make this a crappy paint job and put very little time into it.. then maybe in my spare time ill re-paint it

oh and slightly off topic.. what's better for to make a front clip holder? plexi glass or fiber glass or any other options.. its for the golf gti

i dont really understand why you would put very little time into it and live with a crappy paint job... if your even going to try to paint it at least do a nice job... my first paint job was'nt that great but i took my time and tried my best. if you dont take your time and do all the little stuff to perfect it then your going to end up with a crap pile.

why dont you use blue504life's paint stripper technique and get that body back to its original color and start your project over the right way...and take your time with it

it all depends on the colors and quailty good quality requires many coats and a pressuriEd air brush
you dont have to use a pressured air brush you can have just as good of one with a spray can thats wat i use it look just fine no runs just smooth paint so i dont know how the air brush matters and you dont have to wet sand just as long as you get rid of the gloss so it'll accept the paint.

i think you just need to redo it like they're saying and read the directions the paint is very wet or runny you need to go side to side kind of quick and about 6 inches away.

@The_devils_playground: You need to take some time and read the rules located in my sig. As mentioned above, you broke not just one, but two rules. This is your warning, please don't let it happen again. I am going to go ahead and merge your two posts this time.
