You're actually making some good progress on this project so far! I think you should choose some different wheels to really set this off. I just think that by the time you get these wheels painted and on the car, they will look way too small. Also, since you are going to have the hood open up, have you thought about adding a model engine underneath? Just some ideas for you to consider. Have fun!

Thanks. Im going to lower the car so there isnt so much space between the body and tires. Im kind of leaning away from trying to incorporate any model pieces in this build. This is my first one, so Im trying to keep it pretty simple. Im going to tear the whole chassis apart and paint the plastic to match. Until I get more gpm that is. I do have two model conversions in progress though.

Update:
Yeah I know, double post..

So I primed the ole civic and I'm about ready to throw it at the wall... Every place where there is putty is stand-out noticeable. I only have my 2megapix camera phone, so its hard to see what I'm talking about.

ANY advice on how to get the putty to not look so noticeable would be GREATLY appreciated.

run a layer of super glue onto the putty. It will protect it and most likely fill in the holes and gaps you missed sanding out. If glue is noticeable, just sand it back down. hope this helps! -cheeeeersh

now start to sand out all those rough areas you dont like...go from rough to fine grit sand paper...i like sanding blocks...like 4 or 5 bucks at hardware stores...thats one reason its good to give a car a base coat of primer or something...shows the imperfections...i like using flat black myself...keep at it man...another good sanding session, a good wash and another light coat of paint and she might just be looking sweet...and dont get frustrated...its just like a real car - you gotta make her yours

A small update..

Thanks for the advice guys.
Heres How she sits as of now.

The underside with the hood closed..
Its hard to see but I had to modify the back of the hood opening for the hinge to close..
I filed it back in as much as possible smoothed it out and primed it.

If you look closely you can see the back side of the hood opening.
Its nice and round. I had to shave the mounting posts as well.
Im keeping the so I can lock the hood in place..

Sittin on a dummy chassis.

I got the drivers door all hinged up and ready to go.
Actually I have both doors done but didnt get a pic of it.
I'll get some later and update.

I need to sand the mirrors and get them stuck to the doors.
Again, locks..

While I was doing the second door, I broke some of the putty on the passenger side ground effects. So I have to fix that and get it all primed.
The paint will be for the unveiling for the Feb COTM.. With a Tut soon to follow.

C&C Encouraged..

Default Update...

Ok so as requested here is an update.

Pics can speak then I wil

1
2
3
4
5
6
7
8

I finally got the doors mounted, but there is an issue.
Right now it is on a dummie chassis I'm using to do body work on. The body got twisted slightly when I tried to strip the old paint. DON'T USE FINGERNAIL POLISH REMOVER!!!!
Pics 1&2 are with the doors closed and bolted shut.
Pic 3 is the under side of the body.. The two pieces of plastic glued to the rear windshield are used as door stops so the doors dont press inward.
Pics 4&5 are with the wings spread. In pic 4 you can see that the hood is slightly crooked. The camera was also at a tilt when I took it.
Pic 6: 1 is the drivers door. It sinks in a slight amount. 2 Is the passenger door. It is being held out a little bit. "Dang door jams!" lol
Pic 7: 1 is a small crack that isnt really visible on camera. 2 is the gap between the door and side skirts. More putty coming.
Pic 8: 1 is a small crack. again undetectable by camera. 2 is a chip in the putty. 3 is an are that popped off and has yet to be refilled in.

I need to get a new brand of putty. I think I'm going to use tamaya milli putty but thats on the back burner right now.
I also need to rehang pretty much every hinge. I think the drivers door is ok, but the passenger door stop needs a shaving.

Right now the project is on hold due to family issues. My fiance (gf of 7yrs) has decided we aren't life long compatible. Of course this was decided after I gave her the ring. Go figure.

When I get resettled I will pick it back up and keep you updated on the projects. I will still be on the forum, just not active in my own projects. I also am repainting my racer and workin on a crawler.

Later
Andy

I am loving that you didn't just scrap the original body and give up.

This totally has been a resurrection.

Your patience and craftsmanship is solid!
