Default Project: DIY Lift Kit

Well, I wanted to lift my Hummer and quite frankly, I didn't want to pay $40+ for a new lift kit. So instead, I took stock suspension parts and drop kit parts to make myself a lift kit. So far, I've only got the back done, but I'm working on the front right now.

Here are just a bunch of photos of what I've done so far.

Compared to a real lift kit:

How it sits right now:

Awsome, now you just need to makes some molds and mass produce them for a low price.

that looks like it would also work on a evo/street, it would make a b/a rally kit

Haha... only time will tell.

Started working on the front.

In theory, this is what it will look like when I'm done.

Continued work on the front.

How it stands now (with springs)

I began work on the tierod, but I'm not sure if I'm going to stick with the whole styrene thing or go for the paperclip approach.

Haha... It really is quite simple. I used use some .40 styrene and sandwiched three little pieces together and glued them to the cut pieces of the drop kit. I'll try to take some pictures of the cut points, but I can't give exact measurements since I just did it by eye.

Dunno. Should be from what I know. The truck isn't running since all it has is a burnt iWaver board. I'll be swapping boards eventually for a Xmods board.

Wow, very nice work man. Just paint the arms in it will be one sleek lift. but is it just me or does the front look a little taller than the rear? (maybe its just the angle)

The tie rod is finished.

The whole thing is basically finished now. Just a few cuts here and there and I need to get the whole drivetrain to work propery.

Finally. A project I finished.

Looking good. I like the creativeness! The pictures make the Trucks look so much bigger than they are. Well at least to me lol.
