reaper crawler motor TUT
GHETTO CRAWLER MOTOR
difficulty 6/10 so here it is the one you have all been waiting for parts needed: gen1 servo micro geared-motor GH810136V3 its the 100rpm one you want http://www.gizmoszone.com a yellow gen1 wheel bushing or grey evo gearbox bushing any 130 size motor (stock ones are best) tools needed: small pliers epoxy 2 part glue superglue dremel type tool first job is to open up your stock 130 motor and remove the arm and magnets, then removed the wire coils and comm next get your gen1 servo and take out the 7 screws holding it together this is what you should have the parts we need are these gears using your pliers take the gears off the shafts like this the gears we are going to use are these three (3) but save the yellow bit as this makes a good spacer for the motor cradle take the gear on the right and push this onto your stripped out 130 arm like so (it will get positioned later) now the "pinion" is in 2 parts you will notice they lock together with teeth, all we need to do is glue them together till it looks like the one on the right now onto the motor case take your dremel and start sanding this is something like you are looking for (stock on left) just keep trying your arm and gear until it spins without hitting anything ok so that done take you 130 case and slide the arm into it until it hits onto the brass bushing , add a grey or yellow spacer now push on the end-bell and test for any binding and to see if the gear sits in the opening you have made (option of using superglue on shaft to gear) once that is done and all is smooth bend the tabs back to hold the end-bell on next is the gear motor take the gear we made by gluing 2 together and push onto the geared motor with the small gear inward next is the most important bit mount the small motor on top of the dummy 130 and test for gear mesh i found putting the small motor just off centre gave the best mesh check check and check again then glue into place with superglue check again !! if all is good use an epoxy to fill the gap where the motors meet now all that's left is to solder some wires on and make some spacers for the motor cradle (the yellow bit out of the servo works well ) thanks all for watching and any comments or questions are happily accepted

Way to get an actual tut up about the motor. Looks very clean, and should be very helpful for a lot of people.

yes but that defies the point
the inspiration to this is the diymintuner drop in crawler motor and they sold at $40 ......as fast as they could be made

here is the link to the motors i used
this is the model you want GH810136V3 its the 100rpm one you want and this is the site link http://www.gizmoszone.com please note the "L" version may run at 50 rpms but is also longer due to more gears that is why i recomend the 100rpm version still slow and powerfull and a better case (both have the same torque output )

Pretty badass setup, glad you were able to figure something out, even if a gen1 servo is sacrificed. I'd love to see some video.

the servo is not ideal imo but i wanted to make the motor easily accessible to all so this was the best way to do it i think
