That's not fast. A stock Blazer does that with it's 4.3L.

The Cavalier is a good choice, as the entire front subframe of the Cobalt SS and all it's turbo goodness bolts right into the old body I'm told. Bringing 260 hp and 260 ft lb to a car that had maybe 140 on it's best day.

I thought the Cobalt used the Echotec and the Cavalier didn't, which is why they made the name change....

The Cobalt had an earlier version of the Ecotec. But that doesn't change the fact that Chevy didn't really change anything besides the body style when they went to the Cobalt. I've been told by several Cavalier/sunfire fans that the Cobalt SS and it's turbo drivetrain will bolt right in. Even the subframe if need be.

hate to start a flame war and im not but a cobalt ss is not turbo'd it is supercharged BIG difference.

the definition a sleeper to me is something that something that comes from the factory unmodified really fast but looks really slow OR something that not a person knows what it is or what it brings to the table.

here are a few cars that imo are the coolest sleepers.

buick grand national-ultimate sleeper
buick t-type-ultimate sleeper
dodge stealth TT
3000gt vr4
07 altima 3.5 (yes it is quick believe me)

no there really not, i get so many dumbfounded looks from people when im driving the 3kgt and even with my old stealth TT 75% of people on the road have no clue what one is nor what it has under the hood. i will admit they do look fast but you still get people asking if its an eclipse or what not (anoys me to no end)

same goes for a GN or T-type i bet 90% of the kids on this forum have no clue what they are capable of nor even looked at one as a car they wanted for 2 reasons

the looks, and the fact they they are auto's. knowone knows they are huge sleepers pushing near 20lbs of boost....

3000GTs in rare cases, only because you don't see many any more. But Grand Nationals and GNX's are hardly sleepers to anyone worth their salt in the car world. On the street, the turbo 6's have a distinct sound. You may fool some rice boys though

very true tex, another factor is location really. im sure i would get different looks when driving my 3kgt down south then i would up here in CT
yea im talking about the rice boys only cuz when someone is looking into buying a sleeper there trying to fool the ricer boys not the old timers they have been around to long to underestimate curtain vehicles, old timers know what these cars are capable of. i will admit i didnt know what they were until my old boss showed me his GN.
he just purchased 2 t types one is a 10sec car the other is low 9's i cant remember the boost numbers but think it was near 30?
here is the one he just got this weekend...

Cavaliers from I think 2002 and up came with a 2.0 Ecotec. The Ecotec was around long before the Cobalt, I would know.. I've worked on quite a few.

And BAsavage, the new Cobalt SS's are turbo charged.

Edit: With you guys talking about Cavalier sleepers..

I would take a 95-99 Cavalier (ugly ugly body style of Cavvy, I own one..) and swap in a supercharged 3.8 with a Getrag 5 speed tranni. Swap out the pulley, maybe throw a little giggle juice at it, and a nice I/H/E setup.. and that Cavalier will smoke just about anything it comes across.

And yes, this is possible.. I have seen it done. The guy is now running it turbo'd.. and it's effing SWEET.
