Default Project: Top up or die!

ok so iv decided because nobody was interested in the corvette shell to turn it into a death race car. i know there wasen't a corvette on death race but you can turn any car into one.

iv started work on the door, hood and tombstone.

i think you can tell why its called top up or die. Think this will end up being a shelf queen.

Well that wasn't very nice. Deckerz, it looks like it will be...interesting . Personally I've never seen the movie myself but it definitely has an interesting look.

deckerz don't let the haters get you down... if this is really what you want to with your Vette then go for it, if you just want to move on to something else then thats cool and I'll close the thread.

+1 to these guys, Unless you feel like the idea was completely random and is silly because of the boredom you had when you thought it up I say let your creativity flow.

I myself didn't watch death race but I'd mess around with the concept, look at all the cars and take what you like. Plus I'm sure someone has the bumblebee weapons kit that has machine guns and rocket launchers. You can get your hands on those and find more top-up/credit cars for plating.

If you stay this path I suggest you rethink the paneling though. Basically Imagine you truely owned this car and you're driving it as fast as possible with people shooting at you and trying to ram you. What would you need on this car to protect yourself (including fighting back). If you can think of an idea and visualize how the car would look armored then go for it. Take your time with it, use an xacto knife to cut the slots in it for things like visibility and such. This could be a real beastly machine.

If you decide to cancel out because you feel like you could do much more with it, then think about how you would want this car to be built, where is its potential going and how can you get it there. Aside from that, if you don't want it sell or trade, that simple.

Sorry for the long read, but I suggest you read it carefully and think about it.

ok i will carry on with this, my only problem was how long it will take for all the panels. do you guys thing i should cut out the hood and doors with the dremel i got yesterday (not that good with blades yet) to give it that beaten up look and then build new doors out of the top up cards?

i'd say you should strip it to to the frame (as far as that'll go) and rebuild everything. idk if that'd work or not, but it's look great in the end.

i made a death race f150 and for armor i used cut up aluminum cans.they work good and its very flexible. the only thing is you need strong glue or drill holes in the body like i did.

haha yeah.....i didn't have a chassis for it so it couldn't really be a shelf queen and i thought now i have all this time off until september cause iv finished school i need somthing to work on. when i am ready hehe.

i got bumper painted black and gave it a rough look by putting plastic shavings on straight after 1st coat of primer. sanded small parts on it and need to get silver hand model paint to paint over scrapes and where iv used putty for wealding look.

looks cool but instead of plastic scraps i would have used a orbital sander on some stiber foam and use the dust and particals off it

I wish I made this suggestion sooner, but If I were you I'd look into getting some plastic sheets (gawd what are they called), cut some shapes/designs with your dremel.

Don't worry bout the time issue, don't feel rushed and just work on it at your pace. and I'm sure there are tons of tutorials on the web for givng that ride that 'battle damaged' look, just look at sites for plastic model customization.
