Default dogbones.

im planning on locking my back differential, and my little brother did it earlier today and snapped a dogbone in his car. i was wondering if putting a layer or two of tape around the middle dogbone could help make it stronger?

i have seen some people put epoxy on the dog bone to strengthen it. but you can always get alloy dog bones to put in it.

Swing Shafts are shafts that swing! No, they're kind of like dogbones and axle stubs in one. Here's a picture!

Wow, two minute difference.

Anyone know if you have to remove those plastic rings to fit the bearings in the picture above? I had them arrive today and the plastic bits are on tight, i dont wana cut them off if they are supposed to be there.

Sorry to bump an old thread but i didnt wanna start a whole new thread just for one question, and YES i did search but couldn't find info relating to this exact question.

the plastic holds the pin that holds the dogbone in the cup. so you cant get rid of it.

get your nails behind it and gently slide the ring off , pop on the bearing and carfully put the ring back on

they are tight but do come off

Cheers Reaper.

ahhaa lol, i dont have nails so a pair of pliers and job done, um ok blonde moment possibly....

The rear knuckle arms i fitted fine, except unless something is missing or i made a mistake - more likely, the rear wheels can actually be pulled away from the body, dogbones and all, there are 3 bolts on the front of each knuckle, should there be a cover to go there? if so, i cant find one. I have modified a brake disc from the stock parts for now but it looks gash.

Forgot some bearings? Missing spacer? Top screw not put in correctly? Your imagination?

Nope, everything is in, bearings, spacers, screws but nothing actually holds the dogbone and bearings into the knuckle so at high speed the wheels begin to pull out.

sounds like you have used the wrong screws , the head should just lap over the edge of the bearing so stopping them pulling out
