2007 MNSubaru Club Duluth Cruise
...was this last weekend. had a great time, with only a couple incidents. the cities group came up via hwy 23 and 210 through Jay Cooke. I wasn't there for that part, but they made a point to keep speeds very safe and legal. but nonetheless, the only girl driver there hit a patch of gravel and slid into the ditch and wound up on her side. her and her passenger escaped with only minor injuries, but the car is in rough shape (I guess a ton of oil leaked out onto the turbo, and caught fire!).
anyway, we met at my place, then cruised up central entrance to have lunch at BK, McD's and Subway, then up to Sam's Club (some supplies for the evening at the hotel), then through Hermantown for gas (something about Holiday gas being hard on valves or something....so we had to plan a stop at a BP). while there, one of the guys topped off his tank (only 4 gallons), checked his oil, got in the car, and started to drive away. leaving the filler in the car. the safety release didn't work, and the hose ripped, proceeding to spray 10 gallons of premium gas onto the concrete from there we cruised down through piedmont, and then out Skyline Parkway to the overlook near the rest-stop by hwy 2: then all 45 of us went to dinner at Grizzly's up on Central Entrance. it was a fun weekend, but due to some technical difficulties, I was unable to show my car today down on Garfield Ave. But other than that, had a good debut weekend since my 4-5 lug conversion

none of the huge hitters brought they're cars, because the highest octane we have is 91 (although there were a couple tuned for 92 that brought a little race gas from home to mix in there....).
but the fastest car that made the trek is this silver '04 WRX. running a hybrid motor, and many other mods, including a full PPG straight-cut gearset ($5k just for the gears!). putting down ~450 awhp. and in the foreground of another pic....you can see the blue and gold engine piping through the hood vent. |
