the brakes are all stock take-offs from an '02 2.5RS. I will not be using drilled/slotted rotors, as the drastic changes in rotor thickness just make weak spots and causes the rotor to crack (except the insanely expensive ones......in which case, they're insanely expensive.....).

I will have these cryo'd to prevent warping.

hmmmm....

couple pics with the WRX wheels:

did some work on mounting the new handbrake cables:

and got these:

called fender braces. they bolt onto the frame rails under the fenders to prevent chassis flex. they're aluminum, so uber light (only a few ounces each ), and plenty strong!

oh yea, and I got the holes tapped in the front struts, and one of the rears (have to buy another one.....the price we pay for experimentation), and got that rear one full of some Gear oil (about 1000000x thicker than that watery stuff that came out of them).

wow, you're an idiot.

sure, I'd love to have a car that out performs this one (in every way possible, handling, reliability, mileage, cargo space, control in wet/icy conditions, etc.). but, there is virtually zero other car that could even get close to it. and the few that could, would require thousands upon thousands of dollars of modification to get there. on top of the cost of the car. I don't have that kind of money.

but, since you decided to tell me to get rid of it and start over with something else, you must be willing to pay for it for me. and for that, I thank you! feel free to pm me and I'll send you my home address to which you can send a certified cashier's check for $15k.

did some more work tonight:
continued working on the fluid replacement in the struts....
the hole is very shallow, so in order to cut threads, I had to cut the tip off of the tap:

but managed to get some nice threads cut anyway:

they don't quite seal, so I'm probably going to have to use some teflon tape or something.....but got fluid in 2 of them, and started on a 3rd....

Why don't you buy a set of gas charged stuts? The traction will be alot better. Or do the oil filled due better off road? Also teflon tape should seal that tread up well.

And what do you drive? Or ever build a car your self? Didn't think so.

this look like an off-road rig? gas charged doesn't mean squat.

but by replacing the watery fluid that was in them with something much thicker will drastically increase the dampening characteristics of them. which should work very well with my 400lb/in springs

I'm talking suspension so stiff, that sway bars do nothing. the suspension never travels enough to use them.

^bingo. I already know that I'm probably one of less than 10 guys in the country (and probably another 10 in Australia/New Zealand) with this engine/tranny combo and a 5-lug swap in an EA82 subaru. and I know I'm the only one running miata rear struts. and I know I'm one of 2 (the other guys doesn't have an engine swap, or 5-lug swap) replacing the fluid in the struts. and the only one running Rota wheels!

anyway....I ordered tires on Saturday. Discount tire direct was doing an online promotion. $100 instant rebate and free shipping for any order of 4 tires or more. so I bought some Hankook winter iPike snow tires, and some Kumho Ecsta ultra high performance summer tires. for less than $500 SHIPPED!

You're going to enjoy those Kumho's.. it's odd.. they're really cheap in price, but they're amazingly good! Not as good as my Yokohama's but they are unbeatable with their price.

Is that the actual ride height above? I love how the tires fill the wheel wells.

Everybody wants a unique ride, one that few if any others have. Looks like you got it. And not a bad one at that.

this post makes me want to cry.

V6 would be homicide.

and I hate turbo's with a fiery passion.

it has a bigger, and more efficient 4-cyl.

it will probably get a little belt-driven boost (think about it) next summer. but first I need a beater Daily Driver (thinking 2-door nissan altima)

long term plans are Link G3 stand alone and EZ30DR (3.0l H6 from '96-'07 tribeca's and Outbacks) or the EZ36 (3.6l from the '08 tribeca.....but nobody has done that yet......so I have no idea what will be required)

Well... why do you need someone to clear a path for you? Being the first is much more rewarding.

it is. and I've done it numerous times with the suspension. but that was all junkyard parts etc.

the EZ36 is not yet available in the US.....

and, I know I'd need the motor, and a nice standalone ECU system. just for those 2 pieces....$7-8k. being the first to get that done......easily drop $10k.....yea.....not gonna happen any time soon.
