can we get decent quality with spray cans instead of airbrush? because it's quite a hefty investment...especially because i chose xmods for it's affordability ..although an airbrush would come in handy once in a while, i'm, sad to say, not that financially endowed...

I am going to try it with my comaro body. I ordered the comaro and 65 mustang off ebay, they we missing the side skirts and had scratches.... So ordered the body kit and will paint them.

What would I need to start air brushing?
I dont have a brush or anything. Does anybody on the forums do any airbrushing, anybody got any recommendations?

Nice compressor but way overkill for airbrushing. You will need a regulator and a moisture trap and of course an airbrush. I recommend a Paasche. You can pick a nice used one up on ebay for what walmart will charge you for a Testers.

The compressor has a pretty sweet regulator on it... I can crank it all the way down to 1 or 2 PSI if I want... And I always drain the condensation out of my tank... But since they're only 20 bucks maybe I'll get the moisture trap anyways...

Also... should I get a single action or double action or top feed or bottom feed airbrush or what???

I use a single action bottom feed Paasche and it works great. I got it off of ebay for $26. Looked like it was never used.

I also got a little airbrush compressor off of ebay for $32. You can get some really good buys if you have patience!!!!

F250- You got a model number on that thing???

Also... is there any advantage to single action over double action or bottom feed over top feed.

Does anybody else have any two (or 3) cents on airbrushing?

Double action is where you can control the paint-flow and the air-flow (on-off).

Bottom feed works as a siphon (sp?) feed. It works by taking the vacuum of air going out of the airbrush to propel the paint through the needle.

Top-feed is a gravity fed airbrush. the paint is always ready when you need it so there isn't any lag when compared to a bottom feed. You can achieve greater results using a top-feed dual-action airbrush. But they cost more and must be maintained in order to work to their fullest!
