Need help with Gen 1 steering servo.

My new to me civic started losing steering a few days ago ad know has stopped altogether.I changed batteries(car& remote),Used different remote,different crystals and a combo of all 3 But nothing.I then took the servo out of car and removed some of the gears.After cleaning them (really nothing to clean)i reassembled it and it worked.Put front end back on and same problem.I did this about 6-7 times and same thing.If i dont put the towers wheels and shocks on it will work but as soon as i put these on it stops .No there is nothing binding as far as the front end go's.Sometimes i can hear the servo running when im not turning.I checked all the wires and they seem to be attached really well.Im thinking the servo is bad but need confirmation from someone who knows more than me.If the servo is bad,where can i get one.I looked on several of the big xmods stores but only found full electronics package.Thanks
