I was going to get a new Xmod but I spent $30 on this instead

I was going to get a new Xmod while they were on sale but I spent the $30 on this instead...................................

I don't have it yet but I already paid for it via paypal, so unless the deal goes south and I get burnt, she'll be mine next week.
The guy I'm getting it from is a member on a different forum that I visit. I've been talking with him for a bit by PM for a while before the Z was even up for sale and he seems like a really good guy, so I have a very good feeling about the deal anyways.
At least this thing will need allot less work than a new xmod will, I'm just adding ball bearings if it doesn't have them already.
It should make a nice spare guest car for my track, actually I'd probably let my son use this and the guest can use my son's xmod(with rpmZ pcb)

+1 Way better buy than an xmod! You should sell it for much more then get a newer one. Thats what I would do.

So far none of my yellow cars have faced each other on the track yet.
Having them all the same color has been helpful to me when I switch from 2wd to awd since my club races them in different classes. The bumble bee ended up being raced in a Z-mod class too. So basically all I always had to do was look at the yellow car.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do about the new one yet though, that cold be confusing. I have to leave it yellow though, for one I might have to use it as a back up car if my mr02 brakes, also my club was talking about doing a box-stock class.
Plus since this one's yellow, it's kind of like it was just meant to be,I GUESS team acerpower will always sport the yellow cars, it's my little swarm of killer bees.lol
I don't have many visitors at my home track anyways so it shouldn't be to bad I guess.

its a mr01 not a mr015 but its still quite cheap

I figured it was an mr01, the mr01 is still a decent chassis besides the lack of a servo saver. I can't complain for the price I'm getting it.

My new Z came in last week but I haven't gotten around to posting some new pics until now...............

and all my running Xmods(sporting miniZ or microT pcb's) and miniZs.........

The body was in much better condition than I thought, plus it came with the old stock chassis. I ordered some ball bearings but the store sent me the wrong ones (for the ma010) I put some aluminum wheel nuts on it and some new tires on all 4 corners as soon as I got it.
I might pick up some C.F. H-plates from ebay, and I'll also be on the lookout for some aluminum servo gears, tie rod, and any other cheap aluminum parts I can find for it.

between me and my 3 sons we have 7 xmods, are mini z any better, should i get 1

Mini-Zs handle much better, have better electronics and controller, better design, nicer more realistic bodies, much lighter, faster out of the box, longer range, but the biggest factor is they are much more expensive.
Xmods are more of a toy, where Mini-Zs are hobby grade RCs. If you plan on racing, or would just like a better handling car with a much nicer selection of more realistic looking bodies then the mini-Z is the way to go.
With that being said, a brand new, stock AM mr-02 (2wd miniZ) is about 3 times the price of a brand new Xmod(non sale price)

I think the Mini-Z is worth every penny, but I like to race and have a small track of my own.
I still like Xmods as well, I usually just change the PCB(electronics/circuit board) and put in the PCB from a Mini-Z so I can drive them with a hobby grade controller.
You could always look on ebay for used Mini-Zs, but as with any used items that you buy on ebay, you never know what your going to get.
If you do eventually plan on getting a Mini-Z, I would suggest a MR-02 or MR-15(both are 2wd), or if you want an AWD car then there is the MA-010 which costs a bit more and is a bit harder to set up.
The car that I just got is an MR-01 which is the original model Mini-Z and is no longer in production. It's still a great car and handles awesome but since it's obsolete parts are a bit harder to come by, so I'd stay away from it if I were you, unless of course you get it at a great price like I did.
Since you have 3 sons and a few cars already you might want to buy or build a track if you don't already have one, then if you do end up buying a mini-Z it will really "shine" since a Mini-Z is built for racing, and you'll be driving circles around the rest of the xmods.

mini-z's are not intended to be used outdoors, by the way.
if you aren't quite ready to sink money for a z, but you want better responsiveness/control, you could go ahead and buy a stock mini-z pcb and remote for a swap (you can probably find stock remotes for cheap used, and there's nothing bad about used mini-z remotes). Atomicmods has a tutorial for the swap you can follow, and it's not a hard procedure to do, and the results are very good.

I decided to do a little work to the mr01 since it will be a runner rather than a shelf queen.
I ordered some new H-plates and a side damper from ebay.http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWNX:IT
I also installed a stock RM pod,top shock, and diff from a MR02.
I'm getting a new aluminum 94mm MM for my MR02 so I'll be installing my old PN RM rear end on the mr01 instead.
I'm also planning on getting another 3racing mr02 ball diff for this, since the one I have in my mr02 works pretty good, plus the price is right(about $15)
I'm on the lookout for some aluminum knuckles too.
update:
I figured I have one to many yellow cars, and since this car will probably be used by visitors on occasion against one of my other yellow cars, I decided to avoid some confusion and switch bodies.............

The rims doesn't really look too good with this body, so I'll be on the lookout for some better looking rims in the near future.

My new H-plates and side shock system came in today!

I'm not sure if it will really improve handling much or decrease lap time but it looks cool anyways.

Since I'm not sure how long the stock H-plate would last, I figured the C.F. H-plates would be a necessary purchase.
The stock H-plate was a bit too soft anyways.

Next to go will be the new motor mount and PN 70t motor. That should be in a week or two.

I'm going to track test the two bodies and see which one turns the faster lap times, my bet is on the Porsche.
