97 Dodge Viper
Heres my current project. Not much to it so far, pretty simplistic compared to others I have done. The model at 1:25th scale actually fit a large chassy perfect, and needed no body cutting. I tried something new with the windows, and by using a black paint marker on the inside of the window, the outside came out looking streak free and matches an xmod window pretty well.
After assembly most of the inside of the body has been cut away to make room for the chassy. taped off for painting the racing stripe this weekend. I will upload more as the project progresses. |

wow, both are nice builds. It will be striped like this pic, and I have wheels to match. I am debating on whether to keep it simple so I can race it without crying when it wrecks, or go all out and completely redo the hood to match the photo also.

glad to see another viper being done. i want to rework mine sometime, when i get time. quick question, did you sand the body where the stripes are going? still looks like the glossy factory finish in the pics. with not sanding you risk pulling paint off when you take the masking off.
please resize your pics to 800x600 or less as well please.

Sorry about the image sizes, I thought I had resized them. Here are some updated photos, after a weekend of myself, my wife and 6 mo daughter being sick as hell. All thats left is detail work, and installing the mountings for the chassy.
Decided to be creative and try a new resource. Used some scrap leather I had from an unrelated project to make the air intake on the hood. The leather worked out after being sealed with rubber cement (leather being incredibly porous). Taped off again, ready for painting. Painted. I used what I had on hand, which was some crappy krylon fusion spraypaint. Comments welcome. |

actually its the lighting, the leather was smooth, its just the paint I used left a slight texture. For some reason in the photos it was more visible on the leather. If you look at the front end of the second painted photo, you can see the same texture on the smooth plastic.
