Hello all! Newb from the Poconos here (long read)
Hi all. You can call me Progress (which seems to be my nickname on many of the other forums I'm a member of). As the title states, I'm a newb to both XmodSource and Xmods (and basically higher end RC cars in general). I've always played with the generic toy store RC car and always end up getting frustrated when they break a few days later from the abuse that only my 4 boys can give it. I never ventured past these inferior piles of junk due to the overwhelmingly high price of higher end RC cars out there! Then I found Xmods! MY wallet thanks you Radio Shack!
In the past couple of weeks since finding out about Xmods, I've already purchasd for my boys 2 new Scions, and a Mustang and a Evo VIII (both of which were demo models at a cost to me of $15 each). I just asked the RS guys if I could buy them and they said sure! The EVO VIII had a wild body kit and lights upgrade and the Mustang had the Stage 2 motor, AWD, metal bearings, suspension and drift tire upgrades before I bought it. All the other cars have been converted to AWD, drift tires and some have lights. I've also purchased those rechargeable batteries as well. Now those come in handy don't they? Now, not wanting to be left out, I had to buy myself my own EVO VIII. After calling many local RS stores, I finally found one! Ya me! I've transferred the Stage 2 motor from the Mustang to my Evo VIII (since my 4 year old uses that one), upgraded to metal bearings, AWD kit, drift tires and suspension upgrades. I've been looking at all the aluminium parts available and they do sound tempting. But we'll just have to wait until later for thoset. Needing a place to run these things seeing as I have carpet all over my house, I've also purchased 3 sets of mats from Harbor Freight at $11.99 for 4 pack of 2'x2' mats. To my wife's dismay, we've already turned our family room into race track central! I'm planning on adding more mats to make the track a bit more challenging. These cars are fun! And I'm already thinking of ways of making an exact replica of my real car... a 1990 Honda CRX. I just have to find a CRX model car on ebay. I'm also thinking of venturing into the Xmod trucks and I blame those of you who've converted backyards into trails and rock crawling type areas. Thanks a lot! howwdy, welcome and glad to hear you're loving xmods. i've got an 89 CRX Si and I want to build an equivalent xmod, but its hard to find a model kit, they are on ebay and they can be found, but its kinda pricey. I say look around and see what you can find though, I would love to see it done!
