did i frie my range?
OK i need help i was driving my truck last night and i was going through mud and water but i didnt go through any water deeeper than 3/4 up a stock truck tire. then i crashed into my house and it didnt work. i found that my batt. wire came off and i soldered them back on. before, i had a range of about 200 feet roughly. now i have a range of about10 feet with the controler about 3ft high. but i raiise the controler it goes farther i know that but i only get 2 feet out of that.
does anyone know what i did to my truck and how i can fix it?

Try replacing the 9V battery in your controller. Sounds like it may be dead/dying.

You were driving in water... I would chech the electronics too. You could have made a wire break slightly, and now it is only holding on by a strand. The wire would be involved with the range of course.
Okay, so check the wires, and replace the batteries like Donzii suggested. Also, shift around the battery tray. There are contacts from the battery tray and the wires that lead to the board--those might be loose and it just so happens that after a certain range...? Trust me, I've been using xmods for a while and some weird stuff can cause weird effects. Does your range actually cut out? Or does it stutter?

I a similar problem with my RSX. when I screwed in teh motor mount I caught the antenna. when I loosened it the car exploded cause I left in the batteries. it smelt like BBQ for over a week and I have 15 foot range. getting a soldering tool soon so...

Donziikid, the controler batt.s are brand new. put it in for that drive.
Lowrideit, i'm new to the board, so i dont know where the capacitor is or what it looks like. could you get me a pic of a good one and telll me where it is? that would be great. Mooshu beef, the rang studders the cuts completely until i raise the height of the controler antenna or come closer. Spade, i know a fried board smeel like i think you got the smell, what ever the smell is its not good.

The range is fried. You can contact a few guys here that can maybe fix it for you. Try hitting up BLT and REDsxmodder.
