I'd like to see this "upgrade." Anything above 8.4V will fry your Xmods EP, eventually.

You are referring to this:

http://xmodsinternational.com/USA_ST...ENOSSYSTEM.htm

I take it?

The 14.8volts are going direct to the motor so the board should be good!

Your motor will be toast. Most aren't good to take that much voltage.

Liths are much more worth the money.

Don't buy this.

Think of it this way. Your in a honda civic right? You floor the thing and it's on it's measly 4 cylinder limping up to speed. Then at 40 mph, all the sudden god strikes down upon thee with a supercharged V8, and you spin into a wall.

That's pretty much the transition from 7.2v to 14.8v.

I suggest you go with a lith kit from AM or BLT here.

ok so he just spent what like $40 on it and your saying he should spend more for lithium and just put this away? thats a waste of money. I would if I were you, get a old chassis and try it out before you put it on a nicer chassis. Unless this guy is rich, he's just ****ing away money buying all this stuff your telling him. He just bought a chassis from me for $80 and he spent $40 on that and now your telling him to spend like another $40 for Liths? I would just try it out first before you junk it.

Return it, XI has a great customer service. ****ing away money is burning through motors left and right using 14.8v

Spend the money on something that's not going to ruin motors left and right for a worthless boost of speed in the top RPM range. Not only this, but they can be MADE for no more then 10 bucks.

Or you can use it, burn through motors, have a non controllable boost (only thing you can change is when it kicks in).

Maybe cut it up and use the battery tray to wire a 6 cell setup.

You'd have to run liths, or wire up a 5 cell (cheap-n-easy) for it to work. Otherwise the relay won't fire the "NOS"
Quote:
REQUIRES:
* Soldering required.
* Your base Xmod power supply must be over 5volts for this system to work. In other words your Xmod must have a Lith-Ion Battery Upgrade, 5 Cell Upgrade, or 6 Cell Upgrade.
NOTE:
* This system is extremely hard on the Xmod motors.

Stock motors won't survive long. If you have a load of xmods motors laying around, pull out all the motor brushes. They'll be the 1st to die under 14.8v.

But, even then, most high end motors used in xmods and mini-zs aren't meant for 14.8v either.. Pretty sure carbon brushes will hold pretty well, xi and AM have them for cheap

I'm giving him the facts ML.

It won't work on stock 7.2v. It will burn motors. The end.

These are facts, no ways around it. When there are better things to put money into, I will mention them. Since he wants to pursue it, I will help. Get over yourself when you don't know jack about this product.

A while ago,I used a 9.6 volt battery pack, and it fried my motor, servo, and board,so dont try anything higher than 8.4 volts, like Donziikid said.

XmodzICON82 ,there is motors out there that can handle that kinda power, but it might be to big to fit on a evo or gen.1 chassis.

Uhhhhh, I think you missed the important parts of the convo.

My question is...where is the 14.8 volts going to come from? Thats over 12 cells, you would need coolcars trailer to hold them (unless you did 4 liths in series)

The basic explanation on how this works, is the power from the car runs through a relay. When the car provides a certain amount of voltage (higher the RPM, the more voltage), the relay shuts off power from the car, and then sends power from the 14.8v pack straight to the motor. None of that 14.8v is sent to the board.

This was an old trick made by Blownxmod, a simple $10 mod if you did it yourself.
