Battery cap upgrade

you won't want to get to big, because if your running your car ata stop and go stop and go pace you have to remember that the cap may take some time to refill, and the bigger the capcitor the longer it takes.
--don't be discouraged by this post though, currentflow is very fast and your cap should fill up seemingly immidiatly-it also depends on the intervals of how often yoou're "stop and going"

Drill out a hole big enough for the cap to fit through, or just leave it off.

Is it possible to just put the cap on,without soldering ??

I bought 2 caps,one large,one small,and I really dont wanna solder in that area,I dont think my soldering iron is working anyway,I havent used in a while.

No, snowboi. You'll have to solder it on for the best connection and without a risk of ruining something unintentionally.

You could use wire glue from XI. I heard they hold great, but it takes one night to dry enough.

I would rather not spend money.I hate soldering when I know the board is at risk.

if you go to youtube and type in "how to solder" (then watch a few vids) i bet you'd feel more confident and could actually perform the mod to your board without messing anything up.

I believe the negative connection is the tricky one, pretty tight in that area, just be careful. You would have a minimal loss but you could strip back some of the red and black wire and solder it in place away from the board.

I've had the same soldering iron for like a couple months,and I've never changed the lil tip part,so its kinda worn down,the tip of it doesnt work,but closer to the soldering iron will melt solder,just not at the tip of it.

The tip is probably dirty and covered with rosin. Clean it and make sure it's tight. I've been using the same tip for 10+ years.

Practice soldering things on and off some POS circuit board you have laying aorund. That's how I learned. Just, don't breath the white smoke.

I know hot to solder,but its just its hard when you know that your risking a evo borad that you cant replace unless you have money(which I dont,ever).

I took the good board outta the silverado chassis,and I'm going to try to work with it

i just soldered the negative to black and positive to red where the battery wires where on the circut board. turned it on expecting it to work. nothing happend. the batteries got really hot and thats it

Well you either hooked the cap up backwards or shorted the negative to something on the board (pretty tight around the negative)

to get the same effect and without risking the board, snip the wires delivering juice from the batteries, strip them, and solder your capaciter in correctly. shouldn't comperamise the quality, easier to do if you don't want to mess your boared up, but make sure you wrap the joints and protuding leads with electrical tape or you run a great risk of a short, and if you're using regarachables, a short circuit could mean that you battery tray melts
