Default extra battery?

So, I was bored, and I knew how to wire in an extra battery to the four AAA on the car. I assume I'd have to wire up an extra battery in parallel with the four others, because that would boost the voltage by another 1.37 volts (give or take).

I know there are tons of tutorials about batteries, but I was wondering how many people have actually just wired up an extra battery to up the voltage? I could add it above the electronics and below the body.

And before yousay "go search", I'm really just looking for people to tell me if they did it or not. I know I can search for the actual tutorial. I guess I'm trying to figure out how common it is vs. the lith or poly upgrade. It seems like an extra nimh battery or two would be cheaper to do than a lith pack and that a lot of people would do it...

I've never done a 5 or 6 cell upgrade because of the added weight. I went straight to li-ion. If you want to do it,then you need to wire the cell(s) up in series not parallel. and don't exceed 7.4v. If you want longer runtime then wire up a couple of cells in parallel, that will increase the mAh. but keep in mind the weight your adding to the car.

It does help your speed, very noticable diffrence. But compared to liths its nothing

I have a friend who did a 5 cell upgrade and it's not really that much extra weight. When we raced it was WAY faster than my car which has the radioshack rechargable batteries.
