Default Takara Tomy Drift Package Light (56k ixnay)

Well, while in Taiwan, I picked one of these up for myself.

It was around 1700 NT, or about $57 dollars.

The box. It's a little beat up and dirty after hours of carrying it in my hands and got a little tea on it XD

(Proof it's mine)

Box contents:

Body straight out of the box. There are some stickers you have to put on yourself. The only problem is that the stickers aren't exactly all that adhesive.

Chassis unassembled. Also enough mirrors to make anyone jizz in their pants.

Just assemebed chassis. Nicely blanced. Requires three AAA's so they can all balance out.

Car and controller:

Overall, I like it. It drifts very nicely While the controller is pretty much one set speed for acceleration and turning, its just fine. The drivetrain is nice and smooth and rolls quite nicely. The rear wheels are powered by a solid axle (just one solid metal pole) and the front is powered by a diff that only works while going forward.

Well, should you buy it?

No. Unless if you're willing to spend the money. If you're don't mind paying over $50 for a well built drifter, then yes, this is the car for you.B ut for the cheap people looking for bang for the buck, its not the best thing you can buy for $50.

the chassis looks a little like a mr015. Kinda sucks about the front diff only working forward though.
are the tires plastic or rubber and are they as wide as xmods wheels?
good build quality?

Looks like a cheap sack.... But hey, if it drifts well, I guess it's doing it's job. The body looks decent too.

Its just an Mini-Z MR clone.... they make other equally crappy ones but at least you get a decent body with this one

Any videos of it in action??

Only thing I really dislike is the price... they are only $30ish on eBay...

The tires are plastic and they are a little smaller and just a hair narrower.

The build quality is pretty **** good. Everything fits with each other, no problems with binding that I've seen so far. Everything runs really smoothly without bearings or lube.

I'll try to get one up when I get back to the U.S. (I'll have more room when I get back there)

The wheels are cool looking and the body is pretty decent, can you get pictures of the electronics? Have you thought about putting a new motor in it? Maybe a radline or something torquey?

It's not a clone, folks... these chassis look nothing like an MA010 or Xmod. I've been told that the bodies fit though, so I'm looking at that FD3S a lot.

Well, the only problem is when you first get the RC, it is a little different setup than other RC's.

First off, it has two 130 motors, one for the steering, one for going forwards and backwards. This makes the car's center of balance a bit low. The motor to the right is for steering, one in the back is for driving.

The gearing setup is a bit complex, but makes sense. The pinion is a bit big, but helps out for torque (I think...) The pinion drives the main drive shaft which then drives the rear pole.

The other side of the pole drives the front diff. I finally realized that the front diff runs a bit longer than the rear pole thingy so this way it pulls a bit more to the front wheel when you brake allowing it to make a nice U-turn drift. Also note the dogbone which fits nicely into the other thingy which name escapes me...

Now the electronics. This is about as far as one can go with a regular Philips screwdriver. Two pretty motor lead pad things. The only way I can get to the electronics is to get a triangle screwdriver, which I don't have. It's like those stupid McDonalds toys that when one wants to take it apart, they can't.

Here's the motor. A good way to mod the motor is to just get Neo magnets. and maybe change the armature. Also, because the steering motor is also turned the same way (two motor leads), if someone wanted to change out the electronics, one would have to hack the chassis to put in a servo. Because of this, I'm a bit afraid to change the motor to a better one XD

As for a video, I just got back from Taiwan, so I'll start making a video today if I have some time after unpacking.

Since this is an Xmods forum, here's a comparison between an Xmods and a TTDPL.

Medium length Xmods. The size is about 95-96 mm long. This is the closest I found with the long chassis being around 3-5 mm longer than the TTDPL chassis.

The TTDPL chassis has about a 97-98 mm long chassis. This means that for a better fit, it would be better if the TTDPL body was used on a Mini-Z.

Here's the Xmods chassis and the TTDPL together:

The width is about the same 66-68 mm in width for the Xmods.

The TTDPL is about the same with a width of about 68-69 mm.

For funsies, the TTDPL Levin body on an Xmods chassis the chassis is a bit short, but with some minor, minor modification, it would fit perfect

And the Xmods Mitsu Evo body on the TTDPL chassis. There aren't really any mounting points... So it would be a toughie to put it on the TTDPL chassis.

As for the video, I'm editing it at the moment so sit tight

Yup. I guess that somehow makes it easier to drift...

Here's the video! I finally got around to making/ editing it... Most of its unedited besides the parts where it was really boring so I edited those parts out.

Hows about throwing a set of neo mags and a stage 2 arm into it and seeing what happens??

I know when I had the real drive cars which are pretty similar when I tried to wire in an xmod battery tray and 4 aaa batteries it melted the board so be careful

I sorta wanna do that, but ATM, the stock motor works pretty well (and I have neither of those things XD)

But oh... The possibilities... Such as a Plasmatomic motor (he he he...)
