Default Free disc brake mod for any car...

I dont want to see the idea posted on anyother sites unless i do it. This is my idea!

I will show you how to make a disc brake for free out of xmod stuff and a dime ( a canadian one, i dont know if the american one works. if someone could tell me i would apreciate it. LOL )

Here goes.

Dificulty= 4/10

Stuff you need:

-Dime
-xmod upgrade plastic or something like that
-scissors
-Drill with puncture bit (optional but make life easier)
-paint and or anything else to add chrome effect, and caliper effect

The rim i will be using...

This does work with other rims but it might be harder because of the little ridges pictured below:

The ones that i am using are form the aluminum rim kit and dont have this ridge:

This is a canadian dime. Can anybody tell me if an american penny or dime also fit?

(back side, ooohhh shiny)

Ever notice how they fit perfectly into the rim?? Probably not but i have!!!

Other side...

Now mark the inside with sharpie through the axel shaft hole.

Now make a ring around it. i recomend doing this with the back side of a lugnut wrench:

Now Take your plastic from the packaging and use some double sided tape on the dime and attach it to the plastic. ( I dont pics but if you dont understand leave my thread NOW! lol, just kidding if you dont understand i can get a pic.)

Cut out around the dime with your scissors.

Now mark the plastic with the same markings as the dime.

Now take out your drill and find a bit that matches the size of your your ring around the dime. it should be around the 5MM size.

Make sure you take the dime off the plastic, and put the plastic against something hard but that you can drill through without your parents beating you, I use a scrap piece of wood. Drill the hole, then go get your rim and see if it fits over the axelshaft hole on the back side. if it doesnt go get a bigger bit. If it does then your set.

My plastic thing looked like this ( Pardon but mine was done with a exacto knife not a drill, so it looks terible. Your will be much nicer!):

Now all you have to do is paint your disc silver and paint on a caliper. you can also drill little 1MM holes around your plastic for realistic look.

You could also instead of drilling a plastic piece just drill the dime and turn that into your disc, but it weighs more and if you dont have a good bit and drill could ruin your tools.

Then just repeat for all four wheels and VOILA!

Oh and thanks to texan idiot25 for this one:

This can also be used for making wheel inserts like this:

Ill try and get a pic of what it could look like once done! EDIT HERE IS A PIC OF SOMETHING TO THIS NATURE (Redkrt if you have a problem with me posting this please tell me cause i PMed you and you didnt say anything...):

[/QUOTE]

If you need any help or more pics just ask...

B-raz!

Looks nice, now you gave me the idea of sticking a dime in my rim to add a little "bling bling" to my ride

You could also do it different colors, and have wheel inserts

I'm not sure if it's the same in Canada, but isn't it illegal to destruct currency? lol
At least in the US it is.
